The Arkansas Educational Television Network recently opened a contemporary Native American artwork exhibit in conjunction with the PBS/WGBH blockbuster documentary series "We Shall Remain" and AETN's "Arkansas's First People" Native American Initiative for Arkansas Educators. A free gallery talk and public reception will be held Saturday, June 13, from 2-4 p.m. at AETN, 350 South Donaghey, Conway.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network Foundation, the 501 (c)(3) nonprofit fundraising arm of the states only public television broadcaster and statewide network, is entering the final weekend of its March Membership Campaign almost 50 percent behind projections due to the recession and the loss of two transmitters.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network expects to resume over-the-air broadcasts for KETS Channel 2/Little Rock and KETZ Channel 12/El Dorado no later than Saturday, June 13, 2009, when the nation completes the digital transition.

For the sixth consecutive year, a GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media poll shows Americans consider PBS the nations most trusted institution among nationally known organizations and the best choice in childrens programming for ages 2-8. PBS remains #1 in public trust, with 49% trusting PBS a great deal. Second in trust are courts of law, which are trusted a great deal by 27%. Among those polled, 18% found PBS to be an excellent use of tax dollars, second only to military defense, which garnered 23%.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network will turn off the KETZ Channel 12/El Dorado transmitter in Huttig on Thursday, Feb. 5. The shutdown is necessary for final preparations for the digital transition, and KETZ will be available again on Feb. 18, 2009, following the nations conversion to DTV.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network anticipates the temporary shut down of KETS Channel 2/Little Rock transmitter in Redfield to occur within the next week, weather permitting. The KETZ Channel 12/El Dorado transmitter in Huttig will also be off air later this month when a tower crew becomes available.
