Arkansas's Statewide Student Art Exhibit is currently on display

The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN), the Arkansas Art Educators (AAE) and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) have joined forces again this year to host the 2008 Statewide Student Art Exhibit featuring the next generation of Arkansas’s best young artists.

Featured are 90 two-dimensional works by kindergarten through 12th grade students representing schools throughout the state. Winning entries were chosen from hundreds of pieces during seven regional competitions hosted by the Arkansas Art Educators earlier this year. Art entered must have been completed during the current school year in an art class. This show began in 1992 and was originally the State Youth Art Show.

An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held at AETN on Saturday, April 26, from noon to 3 p.m. The exhibit will stay open to the public through the months of May and June at AETN. The entire exhibit will then be on display at the Cox Creative Center in Little Rock’s River Market District for the months of July and August.

The address for the exhibit and ceremony is: AETN, 350 S. Donaghey, Conway, AR (on the University of Central Arkansas campus). The Statewide Student Art Exhibit is part of AETN’s “Art in the Atrium” exhibit series. Ink Enterprises of Maumelle donated T-shirts for the winners.
