The Arkansas History Hub is described as an interactive tool that assembles resources from history institutions across the state into a centralized, easy-to-use website. It allows teachers to exchange ideas, enhance their lesson plans and download classroom materials about Arkansas history.

Parents should include a trip to the optometrist on the list of well-baby check-ups between the ages of six to 12 months. Early detection of eye conditions is the best way to ensure your baby has healthy vision now and in the future.

InfantSEE, a public health program managed by Optometry Cares and The American Optometric Association (AOA) Foundation, is designed to ensure that eye and vision care become an important part of infant wellness. Under this program, AOA optometrists provide FREE comprehensive eye and vision assessments for infants within the first year of life regardless of a family's income or access to insurance coverage.

When parents want to find a book to share with a child, this site simplifies the process. Selection criteria include age, book types and themes. Age choices range from babies to third-graders. Book types include read-aloud and read-to-self. It is then possible to select from a list of book themes or do a key word search.

Help For Parents To Help Their Children

Parents can select programs from the list below to help their children learn basic concepts. If a seven year-old child is having trouble with reading and writing, the list will show "Arthur", "Between the Lions", "Electric Company", "Martha Speaks", "Super WHY", "Word Girl" and "Word World" as appropriate resources. By going to the program Web sites, parent and child can play the games, do the activities, color the activity pages and explore the world of reading together.

Monthly Series Addresses Issues in Minority Communities; Sylvester Smith Hosts
AETN's "Minority Matters," a series provides a dedicated forum for discussion and exploration of issues affecting Arkansans from a minority perspective.

"'Minority Matters' is an opportunity to open dialogue from varying perspectives in an effort to educate Arkansans on different viewpoints, enrich our lives through exchange of ideas, and inspire us to embrace and/or explore each other's cultures, views, experiences, similarities and differences," Tanisha Joe-Conway, AETN senior public affairs producer and series producer, said.

"Minority Matters" seeks to create a deeper level of understanding and awareness of minority issues for all Arkansans and to explore the state's current successes, challenges and opportunities. The first episode surveys the Arkansas political landscape from the view of black candidates who have run for high level statewide and federal offices.
