Watch stunning student films or participate in student workshops this Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3, at the 2012 Student Selects Youth! Event. Held at the Riverdale 10 Cinema, the Student Selects Young Filmmakers Showcase will feature pieces submitted by student filmmakers across the state.

Screening will begin at Sunday at 1:20 p.m. and close with presentations of THEA Foundation/AETN Scholarships for the winning films at 3:30 p.m. “Best Youth Film,” AETN “Spirit ” and scholarship award winners will also be recognized that evening at the Arkansas Times Closing Night Awards Gala

For the workshop portion of the Youth! Event, students have two concurrent opportunities to explore the art and craft of filmmaking at the LRFF Youth! Filmmaking Panels – for filmmakers of all levels – and the LRRF Youth! Intensive – for more advanced filmmakers.

Taught by Arkansas’ most sought-after independent filmmakers – including Dave Calhoun and Southern Light Pictures, Daniel Campbell, Christopher Crane, Mitchell Crisp, Les Galusha, Graham Gordy, Gabe Mayhan, Joel C. High, JM Associates, Courtney Pledger, and Amy and Bob Sandefur – participating students will have an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of filmmaking.

Marking six years of collaboration between the Little Rock Film Festival and AETN, The 2012 Youth! Event celebrates a shared mission to encourage and acknowledge Arkansas youth working in the art of digital storytelling. Together with our partners, the THEA Foundation and the Arkansas Film Commission, we’re proud to present industry-related workshops, screenings, awards and scholarships to celebrate and support our youngest filmmakers.

Join the celebration by encouraging your budding filmmaker to reserve one of the last remaining spaces at the LRFF Youth! Filmmaking Panels by Friday, June 1, or attend our public screenings at the Riverdale 10 Cinema Saturday, June 2, at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 3, at 1:20 p.m.
