"Great Performances - Jackie Evancho: Music of the Movies"

Tonight on AETN Arts Fridays, tune in to be serenaded by lovely ladies with big voices! “AETN Presents on the Front Row With Smittle Band” features Stephanie Smith’s smooth vocals at 6:30 p.m. and "Great Performances - Jackie Evancho: Music of the Movies" showcases the stand out vocals of the 12-year-old crossover music prodigy at 9 p.m.

Featuring the songwriting of members Stephanie Smittle and Wythe Walker, Smittle Band’s “jazzy Americana” sound features suave vocals with a pop sensibility tonight on “AETN Presents.” The group’s original songs reflect vocalist Stephanie Smittle’s background in the Baptist church and highlight members Wythe Walker on acoustic and electric guitars; Jim McGehee on keyboard; Ray Wittenberg on drums; and John Davies, who spent a decade with The Cate Brothers and several years with Michael Burkes, on bass.

Returning to dazzle viewers with her second “Great Performances” solo concert, Jackie Evancho  follows her debut with a new special highlighting great songs from the silver screen. Recorded in the movie place splendor of the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, Jackie puts a unique stamp on a variety of audience favorites, including “My Heart Will Go On” (“Titanic”), “Some Enchanted Evening” (“South Pacific”), “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” (“The Lion King”), “Pure Imagination” (“Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”) and “When She Loved Me” (“Toy Story 2”).
