AETN Exploration Wednesday – Making Stuff Cleaner & Smarter

Posted on 26 Sep 2012

Get ready to make “stuff” tonight! David Pogue and “NOVA” have a one-hour block of to learn how we’re making greener and smarter materials on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 8 and 9 p.m.

Kick the evening off with quest to clean up, using new green materials to build and power the devices of the future!  David introduces us to batteries grown from viruses, plastics made out of sugar and solar cells that can cook up hydrogen! It’s an amazing look at what is just the beginning of a new generation of clean materials.

At 9 p.m., we dive right into the fascinating world of smart materials. In “Making Stuff Smarter,”  we’ll join David to see first-hand how talent, luck and determination can turn a wild idea into a cutting-edge material or high-tech breakthrough! From an army tanker truck that heals its own bullet wounds and an airplane wing that changes shape as it flies to clothing that can monitor its wearer's heart rate, health and mood, there are astounding new products to see. Can you believe it? If not, see it for yourself at 8 p.m. It’s quite a peek at the growing number of smart materials that can respond, change and even learn!

“Agri Arkansas” - June 2016
This month, join us to take a look at the Natural State’s global reach. We’ll also have an update on a farm-to-fuel initiative in DeWitt and make a visit to the Olde Crow General Store at the junction of Highways 9 and 5 in the latest “Agri Arkansas” on Sunday, June 26, at 1 p.m.

“A Deeper Look: The Poverty Divide in Arkansas” airs June 27
