AETN Kids Club December Booklist
Posted on 17 Dec 2013
Many exciting things happen in December - from Christmas parties and the start of "real" winter to possible snow days and the ending of a wonderful year! However, even more excitement can be found when we step into the realm of books - the only present that can be a vacation, adventure and time machine … and fits into a stocking.
So, take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle and snuggle up with your family for a great story time adventure. We've suggested a few of our favorites below!
’Twas the day before Christmas, and the Cat was excited. He was having a party. All his friends were invited. “Merry Christmas!” the Cat said. “I’m happy you’re here. Christmas is my favorite time of the year.” But something has happened, and Cat can’t stay. So come on along, and help return young reindeer Ralph home in time to pull Santa’s sleigh.
When Santa is put out of commission, deli owner Murray Kleiner is asked to take his place. But, Murray needs more convincing: "Give me one reason to schlep through the snow, bringing billions of presents to kids I don't know. Will anyone pay me? Will anyone tip? What if I slip and fracture my hip?" Can Murray make it through the night delivering gifts? What do you think Edison Elf had to say?
Snowballs, ice skating, sledding! Frozen toes, icy slush, runny nose. Well, winter's not all fun and games. But, these poems will melt your doubts about Mother Nature's chilly grip on winter. Whatever the weather, this book is just right for the season.
Has Nancy Drew solved the world's energy crisis? On a mission, sponsored by young, rich, and handsome Ralph Credo, Nancy teams up with eccentric scientist Roy Hinkley to find an amazing high-efficiency engine able to operate at an amazing 200 miles per gallon. The engine, mounted on a tank, was part of an experiment during the final days of World War II. There's just one problem: the engine and the tank are haunted.
