Start your Memorial Day Weekend with a genre-blending twist on this week’s  AETN Arts Friday. From the live-band infused hip-hop of “AETN Presents: On the Front Row with Epiphany”at 6:30 p.m. to the classical and bluegrass stylings of string virtuosos in “Goat Rodeo Live: Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile” at 9 p.m., this evening of unique music is a must-see.

At 6:30 p.m., “AETN Presents: On the Front Row With Epiphany” will feature the up-and-coming entertainer Epiphany, along with collaborators Gina Gee and One Night Stand. With incredible energy, Epiphany delivers a truly genre-bending performance. The band’s jazz, soul and rock-and-roll infused hip-hop promises an exciting, unique musical experience.

The opportunity to marvel at the improvisational artistry of four string virtuosos – Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile – is a rare thrill in itself. But at 9 p.m., “Goat Rodeo Live” provides an experience like no other:  a performance combining the beauty and complexity of classical compositions with the joyful tempo and unique harmonies of bluegrass. Highlighting pieces from the quartet’s acclaimed album, The Goat Rodeo Sessions, the concert will feature "Quarter Chicken Dark," "Where's My Bow?," "Attaboy," "All Through the Night," among others, in addition to  two songs with vocalist Aoife O'Donovan and discussion of how the collaboration came to be.
