"Cook With Brooks: Growing Community Through Soil"

For our first episode of “Cook With Brooks,” I’m looking forward to getting to share one of my passions with you: working locally to put an end to food insecurity. You are gonna love this show!
Settled right in the middle of Fayetteville is an amazing little garden on two acres of land called Tri Cycle Farms. As we head out for a really fun and educational journey around the farm, we’ll also get to talk with its founder, Don Bennett.
As we explore Tri Cycle Farms, you’re going to see that Don and I are both dedicated to a special cause, “growing community through soil.” That happens when we steward food awareness, education and empowerment in our communities, and the farm’s model is a great example of how that works!
And here’s part of how Don and the farm make that happen … Tri Cycle Farms is blessed with a number of volunteers, like these great people from LIVE United Volunteer Day! Because folks like these (and many others) give their time to work, this awesome community farm helps feed a community that otherwise has serious food insecurity.
After our visit to the farm, we’re heading to one of my favorite Fayetteville spots, Greenhouse Grille! But we’re not just going there just for my tastebuds.
Greenhouse Grille is hosting the annual Ozark Beer Dinner to benefit Tri Cycle Farms, and chefs from across Northwest Arkansas will be turning out!
As you can see, when there is a need, all of us chefs are glad to give our time in support of a great cause!
Bentonville Chef Rob Nelson (Tusk & Totter American Brasserie) who joins us always says, “Chefs, lead!” The Ozark Beer Dinner proves that we’re doing that, for sure!
To see all of this and get a great recipe for my Pepper Pork Chop au Poivre, be sure to watch our premiere on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 5 p.m.!
