Dive Into A Brand-New Adventure With "Dinosaur Train"

Posted on 15 Feb 2013

"Dinosaur Train: Submarine Adventure"

Everyone's favorite Pteranodon family is taking an undersea adventure Monday, Feb. 18, at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on AETN! Join Buddy and the rest of the gang for a one-hour special featuring four new stores about sea creatures that lived during the "Age of Dinosaurs." All aboooord the "Dinosaur Train: Submarine Adventure" for new lessons about natural science, natural history, paleontology and more!

Kick the episode off with Mr. Conductor's brand-new invention, the Dinosaur Train Submarine and watch your favorite characters as the join the Elasmosaurus family on their journey to follow their food - the fish - to a new world. On the trip, the Pteranodons meet 4 new friends:

On-air Special Program Descriptions:

"Otto Ophthalmosaurs"
On their journey to undersea world, the travelers on the Dinosaur Train Submarine meet a marine reptile called Otto Opthalmosaurus. Otto guides the submarine deeper than it's ever been, and even helps them find their way out of a sea cave.

"Shoshana Shonisaurus"
The Pteranodon family goes under the sea again to ride the Dinosaur Train Submarine, this time meeting Shoshana Shoniaurus - an enormous marine reptiles that's something between a dolphin and a whale. Since Shosahana loves to dive very deep, Shiny has a problem with following her to the bottom of the sea. Shoshana kindly helps Shiny get over her fear of diving deep.

"Maisie Mosasaurus"
Ther Pteranodon family goes back underwater to meet Maise and Marvin Mosasaurus, a doughtier and father who are huge, fast-swimming lizards with flippers. Maisie and Shiny bond when they discover neither likes to go deep in the water. The Pteranodons and Mosasurus have a great time near the ocean's surface, each family showing the other how they hunt and catch fish to eat.

"A Sea Turtle Tale"
The Pteranodon family is on the beach watching small eggs hatch and baby Archelon turtles emerge and start to swim away. The family and Mr. Conductor get into the Dinosaur Train Submarine and follow the baby Archelons, who discover their own facts of nature -- that their mother doesn't stay with them after they're born and that they will grow up to be giant-sized sea turtles.

Like we've often found with "Dinosaur Train," this episode lights a spark for learning that encourages kids to keep learning long after the screen is off! (So get ready to brush up on your dino-lingo and fire up those library cards.)

The best part? On top of inspiring kids to learn about natural science and paleontology, "Dinosaur Train" also introduces fun new ways to practice school-readiness skills with fun activities. Check out great new activities on the PBSKIDS website - and be sure to give the new "Dinosaur Train" apps a look-see in the iTunes store!
