"Doc Martin" premieres on AETN Sunday, Aug. 19

Posted on 19 Aug 2012

Schedule an appointment, Aug. 19, with “Doc Martin.”  The AETN premiere of the acclaimed British series will tease your brain … and make you laugh out loud! As London surgeon, Dr. Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes), transitions to his new position of general practitioner in a sleepy Cornish village, his tactless manner causes mayhem across the city. Back-to-back episodes debut at 8 p.m.

Once a celebrated London surgeon, Doctor Martin Ellingham is forced to flee his position after developing an unusual phobia – an aversion to blood. Instead, the brilliant but socially awkward physician retrains as a general practitioner and gets a job in the beautiful, slow-paced village of Portwenn in Cornwall.

However, Doc Martin’s abrasive personality, blunt opinions and tactless manner don’t exactly mesh well with the town’s residents. The town’s hysterical, quirky residents still celebrate the manner of their beloved, recently deceased local doctor. After Ellingham tests even his own prowess in finding new ways to put his foot in his mouth, the out-of-place and misunderstood doctor soon has all of Portwenn in an uproar.
