Downton Abbey Season 3 Jazz Age Cocktail Reception and Screening

To all our fellow “Downton Abbey” fans out there, it’s coming up fast … and we’re not talking about Christmas. We have something even better! Join us for costumes, cocktails and a special 1-hour sneak peek of Season 3 at the AETN Foundation Jazz Age Cocktail Reception and “Downton Abbey: Season 3” screening event in North Little Rock’s Argenta Community Theater, Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m.

And what might this fabulous evening consist of, you might ask?

Well, to begin with, you’ll finally have an opportunity to deck yourself out in the Belle Epoque or Jazz Age finery of your dreams – without evoking any wayward glances whatsoever.

Unless your costume is better than ours, that is. With a cutthroat period costume contest, which promises rose garden bragging rights and a fabulous prize for the winner, we’re in it to win it.

But, what, you say, if a period costume party doesn’t light your fire? Well, we can’t imagine why it wouldn’t. However, fancy digs – though highly encouraged – are purely optional. There will be plenty more to tempt your little British-drama-loving heart!

First of all, in addition to fabulous period costume contests, the AETN Foundation’s lovely Jazz Age Cocktail Reception will feature drinks – including a signature cocktail – provided by Glazer’s and scrumptious hors ‘d oeuvres whipped up by Starving Artist Café.

And, while we can neither officially confirm nor deny this report, a little birdie has mentioned that we may be so fortunate as to have members of the Conway Symphony Orchestra entertaining during the evening.

Your tickets to this night of elegance? They’re yours for just $25 if you’re an AETN Foundation Member, and $30 if you’re still toying with the idea of joining. So practice your best Dowager-style-superior-glances. It’s going to be a classy, classy night!

And, my dears, that is only the beginning. We’re on pins and needles waiting for the second act – a free, one-hour screening of “Downton Abbey: Season 3” at 7:30 p.m.

Will there be a wedding for our favorite kissing cousins? Will Bates and Anna finally catch a break? And, hello! A Shirley MacLain/Maggie Smith square-off?! It’s time these questions were answered … or at least appropriately hinted at!

Don’t wait too long to decide you’re ready for this delightful December evening, though, ladies and lords. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis, and – because seating is limited – seats to the free screening are available only with RSVP.

And just how might you go about securing your space? We’re very glad you asked. Follow this link to aetnfoundation.org/boxoffice or call 800.662.2386. We’re getting our tickets now – and would be more than happy to have you join us!

“Agri Arkansas” - June 2016
This month, join us to take a look at the Natural State’s global reach. What are the products that Arkansas farmers sell around the world, and how are we expected to fare in a declining export market? We’ll also have an update on a farm-to-fuel initiative in DeWitt and make a visit to the Olde Crow General Store at the junction of Highways 9 and 5 in the latest “Agri Arkansas” on Sunday, June 26, at 1 p.m.

“A Deeper Look: The Poverty Divide in Arkansas” airs June 27
Arkansas is currently ranked fourth in the nation with most people in poverty: one of every five people lives below the poverty line. How does this affect our state and what resources are available to help anyone who is struggling? Find out as we further the conversation about poverty and opportunity in “A Deeper Look: The Poverty Divide in Arkansas” Monday, June 27, at 9 p.m.
