PBS Online Film Festival - Vote to Support Local Filmmakers

Posted on 27 Jun 2014

What exactly is the PBS Online Film Festival, and why should you be watching? We’re more than happy to fill you in - and let you know how you can vote to support the Arkansas films showcased in this year’s program.

Created to showcase powerful stories from filmmakers across the country — while providing an opportunity to reach out to our increasingly digitally inclined audience — the PBS Online Film Festival is working to feature locally produced short films from PBS member stations, like AETN. Arkansas films featured in this year’s contest include “Westland,” from Fayetteville’s Diana Michelle Haussam, and “Diamond John," from Little Rock’s Travis Mosler.

All 25 of this year’s selections are available for streaming across all of PBS’ digital platforms — including PBS.org, Roku, Xbox, YouTube and PBS social media channels — so there’s no excuse not to watch!

Also, after you read this post, there’s also no excuse not to support our local filmmakers in the festival. PBS will award a “People’s Choice” award for the most popular short film, and voting for “Westland” and “Diamond John” is incredibly easy. We’ll even outline the step-by-step process!

1.) To get started, simply pick your viewing method of choice (we’re going online), and call up the PBS Online Film Festival:

2.) Then, navigate over to “Westland” and “Diamond John” …

3.) You can, of course, click that lovely, orange “Vote for this film” button right away, but it’d be a shame not to watch these outstanding films first!

4.) Once you’re done watching, be sure to vote!

5.) And, last but not least, don’t forget to take the opportunity to share these great Arkansas independent films with your friends!
