AETN to air ‘Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live’ Nov. 27

“Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones: Live at the Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago, 1981,” a recording of an impromptu collaboration between the legendary bluesman and Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame band, will air Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 8:30 p.m. on the Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN). The program repeats Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 p.m.

In the midst of their mammoth “Tattoo You” 1981 American tour, The Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to a three-night set at the Rosemont Horizon. Long influenced by Chicago blues, the band visited Muddy Waters’ club, the Checkerboard Lounge, to see his performance. Shortly after their arrival, Waters invited the band members on stage for a jam session, which grew to include Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz.

Fortunately captured on tape, “Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live” offers a unique opportunity to see unrivaled legends from two genres collaborate. Featuring performances of Waters’ classics, “Baby Please Don’t Go,” “Hoochie Coochie Man,” “Long Distance Call,” “Got My Mojo Workin’,” “Champagne and Reefer,” the program is newly edited to focus on the evening’s action. Audio is also newly re-mastered with DTS Surround Sound, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Stereo for viewers’ listening pleasure.
