"Barnes and…A Conversation With," AETN’s public affairs series with host Steve Barnes, will feature four interviews and air in four parts:

• "Barnes and … A Conversation With Charlotte Tillar Schexnayder," airing Thursday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m. Schexnayder, a journalist and public servant, discusses her memoir, "Salty Old Editor: An Adventure in Ink." The memoir tells the story of Schexnayder and her husband Melvin’s lives and work at the Dumas Clarion newspaper, which they published for more than 50 years. Schexnayder, who is considered a pioneer for women in politics and journalism, served 14 years in the Arkansas legislature and sat on a variety of state boards.
• "Barnes and ... A Conversation With Roy Reed," airing Thursday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. Reed, a native of Garland County who became a reporter for The New York Times in 1965, discusses his newest book, “Beware of Limbo Dancers: A Correspondent’s Adventures With The New York Times.” Upon joining The New York Times, Reed was thrust into the chaos of Alabama and witnessed the Selma protest movement and historical interracial march to Montgomery firsthand. After his career as a reporter, Reed taught journalism at the University of Arkansas for 16 years.
• "Barnes and ... A Conversation With Ruth A. Hawkins," airing Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 6:30 p.m. Hawkins is an administrator at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro where she established the Arkansas Heritage Sites program, which includes the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum in Piggott. She tells the story of Pauline Pfeiffer and her marriage to Ernest Hemmingway in her book "Unbelievable Happiness and Final Sorrow: The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Marriage."
• "Barnes and … A Conversation With Dr. Fitzgerald Hill," airing Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m.; repeats Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. Hill discusses his book, “CRACKBACK! How College Football Blindsides the Hopes of Black Coaches,” and his new life as president of Arkansas Baptist College. Hill has extensively studied race-related issues for black football coaches employed at predominantly white colleges and universities.

"Barnes and ... A Conversation With," in production for more than 20 years, is a cutting-edge current affairs program featuring conversations with a variety of prominent individuals from many interests and backgrounds. Previous episodes have featured: celebrated authors, such as Arkansans Charlaine Harris and Taylor Branch; noted activists Richard Leakey and Gila Svirsky; award-winning filmmaker Abigail Disney; "Washington Week" moderator and PBS host Gwen Ifill; and The New York Times Book Review editor Sam Tanenhaus.
