AETN’s ‘Minority Matters’ discusses women’s issues Sept. 30

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) —The Arkansas Educational Television Network’s (AETN) monthly series “Minority Matters,” which provides a dedicated forum for discussion and exploration of issues affecting Arkansans from a minority perspective, will focus on women’s changing roles and perspectives in the next episode, Sunday, Sept. 30, at 4:30 p.m.

Panelists will discuss women’s education levels, business ownership and portrayal in the media. Also examined will be how Arkansas women’s social, familial and professional roles have evolved and how women’s views have changed. Dr. Daniela Ochoa, instructor of surgery in the Division of Breast Surgical Oncology in the UAMS College of Medicine, will provide helpful information on breast care.

Panelists sharing their experiences and educational expertise include: Dr. Sybil Jordan-Hampton, past president, Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation; Lynette Watts, executive director, Arkansas Women’s Foundation; Margarita Solorzano, executive director, Hispanic Women’s Organization of Arkansas; and Jessica Gallagher, homemaker.

“Minority Matters” host Sylvester Smith is a local businessman and community leader. Smith publishes the Web-based ink Magazine and serves on the Arkansas Real Estate Commission. He is a graduate of Philander Smith College and earned his MBA at Harding University.

“Minority Matters” airs the last Sunday of each month at 4:30 p.m.
