The public is invited to a special meet and greet opportunity at the studio, 350 South Donaghey in Conway, beginning at 3 p.m. At this event, Smith will talk about his career and his co-stars, play a few numbers on the piano, be interviewed by AETN and take questions from the audience. He will then be available for pictures and autographs. T-shirts will be available for purchase, and Smith will autograph those, as well.
Tickets for the event are $25 each and may be obtained by calling 800-662-2386 or through the AETN Foundation online box office at www.aetnfoundation.org/boxoffice. All proceeds from this event go to the AETN Foundation to support British comedy programs on AETN.
Smith, 75, portrayed Mr. Rumbold, the often-confused head of the Ladies & Gents Department at Grace Brothers Department Store, for the entire run of the series from its premiere in 1972 to the last episode in 1993. He is one of only three surviving original cast members.
Smiths career has spanned 50 years and has included numerous television roles, including Doctor Who, Danger Island, The Avengers and The Saint, as well as movies such as Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother and Are You Being Served: The Movie. He has also done voices for animated features, including The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and Wallace & Grommit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. He continues to act, making a guest appearance last year in another popular British comedy, Last of the Summer Wine.
