‘LinkAsia’ to premiere Aug. 4 on AETN Plus

CONWAY, Ark. (AETN) — The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) welcomes “LinkAsia,” a compelling television and digital news magazine produced by independent network Link TV, to its third digital channel AETN Plus (AETN-3) Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 4.

From Beijing to Tokyo, Seoul to New Delhi and beyond, “LinkAsia” offers viewers news and culture reports directly from Asia with unfiltered insights into one of the most diverse, fast-paced regions of the globe.

“LinkAsia” host Yul Kwon – winner of “Survivor: Cook Islands” and host of the PBS series “America Revealed” – guides viewers across Asia via its top news and information media, along with its social media platforms. The weekly, half-hour synthesis of culture, politics, technology and much more provides U.S. audiences with English-translated news that comes not only from Asian commercial and state-run TV networks and social media sites, but also from on-the-ground correspondents reporting from China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Thailand and Malaysia.

The program’s format sits at the intersection of culture, journalism and content – official news content from state-run broadcasters, popular coverage by commercial television networks, and original reporting of user-generated information encompassing microblogs, citizen journalism and online polls. The program’s list of news providers includes: CCTV (China), NHK (Japan), MBC (Korea), NDTV (India), VTV4 (Vietnam) and on-the-ground correspondents from citizen journalism organization Global Voices Online.

“LinkAsia” will repeat Sundays at midnight.

AETN Plus (AETN-3), which includes children’s series, instructional television and WORLD programming, is available to watch over the air using an antenna hooked up to a converter box or a digital television. However, it is at the discretion of cable and satellite companies whether they make these channels available to their subscribers. A complete list of service providers currently carrying AETN Plus/World is available at aetn.org/about/channelinformation.

WORLD is produced and distributed by WGBH Boston, WNET New York Public Media, and American Public Television (APT) in association with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). It delivers the best of public television's nonfiction, news and documentary programming, as well as a growing schedule of original content from independent producers.
