AETN, Jones Center to host Family Day 2008 Tuesday

The Arkansas Educational Television Network and the Jones Center for Families in Springdale invite the public to Family Day 2008 Tuesday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Spring Break Week at the Jones Center.

Traveling to the Jones Center with AETN will be PBS Kids favorites Jay Jay the Jet Plane, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Maya & Miguel, Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, WordGirl and Arthur.

This free event themed “Get up and move!” will include:Paper airplane races with Jay Jay at 10 a.m.

  • A piñata and lotteria with Maya & Miguel at 11 a.m.
  • A picnic with Clifford at noon.
  • A hula-hoop contest with Angelina Ballerina at 1 p.m.
  • Building projects with Bob the Builder and Lowe’s at 2 p.m.
  • Reading with Arthur and Lolly Greenwood of the Fayetteville Public Library at 3 p.m.
  • Super hero mask making with WordGirl at 4 p.m.

Throughout the day, kids will have the opportunity to take pictures with the characters, color, read, play, swim, ice skate and find other ways to celebrate spring break.

This event is free and open to the public. The Jones Center for Families is located at 922 East Emma Avenue in Springdale.

The Jones Center for Families was founded in 1995 by Bernice Jones as a safe harbor for the entire Northwest Arkansas community where families and groups could come together to do those things which make the community a better place to live. The center provides a multigenerational, social, educational and recreational facility where “all are welcome.” This nonprofit organization is led by a community board. Its mission is “to serve families, strengthen community and glorify God.”
