Curious George Boosts Knowledge in Math and Science
Posted 05 Dec 2012
The results are official, and the findings couldn’t be better—Curious George helps teach math and science concepts to preschoolers! A study by the Concord Evaluation Group found that "watching 'Curious George' episodes resulted in a knowledge boost for the children in the Television Group."
Read the full study and results and tune in weekdays at 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Don't forget to watch the new holiday special Dec. 25!
The last time I watched "Curious George" was about seven hours ago (and then 24 hours before that and so on and so on…) and caught a bit of what the study talks about of course (as did my kids) but I also admired the patience of that yellow hatted fella. George was making a tomato snowman and had virtually destroyed that cute and somehow spacious New York kitchen yet he had the patience of a yellow-winged/hatted angel when he saw the dismay on sweet primate's little mug. Lesson #1 for mom: no freak-outs no matter how stressful the holidays are - things could be worse, you could have a curious monkey living with you. Lesson #2 for mom: Curious George is a safe destination for the little monkeys in your life. Just hide the tomatoes.
Watch a preview of the "Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas" and play games on the PBS KIDS website.
