LOUPE segment "The Music of Friends" was created by film director Hans Stiritz. Stiritz produces and directs films for his company, Evening Films (www.eveningfilms.com). He also works as a freelance editor, cinematographer and composer. Music and film have been the lifelong center of Stiritz's creative work. Born in France, Stiritz grew up in Arkansas. After graduating from the Indiana University School of Music with a music recording degree, Stiritz returned to Arkansas and worked as a composer for more than 25 years. In 2004, the Arkansas Arts Council awarded him an Individual Artist Fellowship for his achievement in music composition. "The Music of Friends" follows three young musicians Rachel Herman (violist from western Pulaski County), Jenny Nulson (pianist from Greenbriar) and Michael Stiritz (cellist from Russellville) who together form the Meadowlark Trio. The film shows the trio at the Faulkner Chamber Music Festival where they work with instructors on ensemble playing, stylistic concerns and musicality, in order to prepare them for the performance of their repertoire.
