AETN Foundation offers tickets to ‘Celtic Thunder’

Tickets to the performance of "Celtic Thunder" Monday, Nov. 17, at Alltel Arena in Little Rock are now available exclusively through the Arkansas Educational Television Network Foundation.

"Celtic Thunder" is a new group featuring five male vocalists: Paul Byrom, 28, of Dublin, Ireland; George Donaldson, 39, of Glasgow, Scotland; Keith Harkin, 20, and Damian McGinty, 14, of Derry, Northern Ireland; and Ryan Kelly, 28, of Moy in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

From rousing ensemble numbers to solos showcasing each members’ vocal style and personality, Celtic Thunder performs powerful ballads, popular hits and heartwarming songs of love and loss from across the Celtic music spectrum—Irish, Scottish, traditional and contemporary.

The AETN Foundation is currently the only outlet for these tickets, which are $100 each for floor seating and $75 each for upper rows. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. For more information or to reserve tickets, visit www.aetn.org, or call 1-800-662-2386.

All proceeds will help support public television programming in Arkansas.

The public television concert taping of "Celtic Thunder," recorded in August 2007 at the Helix in Dublin, will air on AETN Thursday, March 6, at 9 p.m.; Saturday, March 8, at 10:30 a.m.; Sunday, March 9, at 1 p.m.; and Sunday, March 16, at 10 a.m.

This special is the group’s debut performance and a celebration of Celtic heritage and men—their loves, attitudes, individuality, power and strength, throughout life’s journey.

"Celtic Thunder" creator/producer Sharon Browne teamed up with legendary Irish composer Phil Coulter (Elvis Presley’s "My Boy," Sandie Shaw’s "Puppet on a String," the now-classic Irish ballad "The Town I Loved So Well"), to audition men all over Ireland and Scotland for the group, and craft a representative set list. The eclectic mix of music includes traditional songs, pop classics and Coulter originals, accompanied by The Celtic Concert Orchestra, a full band, bagpipes and monks. Choreography, dramatic lighting, visual effects, and a set resembling ancient stone steps and paths enhance the musical production.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network (www.aetn.org) provides lifelong learning opportunities, improves and enhances Arkansans’ lives and celebrates the unique culture of Arkansas through its programming and services. AETN’s digital and analog transmitters and numerous cable system connections give it statewide reach.
