Hale elected AETN Commission chair for second term

Don Hale of El Dorado has been elected to serve a second term as chairman of the Arkansas Educational Television Network Commission.

"During my time on the AETN Commission, we have experienced substantial growth and advancement at the network," Hale said. "AETN is doing great work in Arkansas and is a leader in public broadcasting in the nation, and we're very proud of our involvement in helping to achieve our goals.

"I also appreciate the support of my fellow commission members and their commitment to making the AETN commission a hard-working, engaged group."

Other officers elected to a second term were Sammie Benjamin, Glenwood, vice chairman; and Mary Beth Green, Van Buren, secretary/treasurer.

Hale, District 4 representative and owner of The Diamond Agency in El Dorado, was appointed to the commission on June 1, 2001. He also serves as the AETN Commission representative on the AETN Foundation Board of Directors.

Benjamin, District 4 public school representative, was originally appointed to the commission on Jan. 20, 1999. She was reappointed on March 23, 2003.

Green, District 3 representative, was appointed to the commission April 28, 2005.

Other commission members are: Billie Sue Hoggard, Jonesboro; William Downs Jr., Arkadelphia; Jane Krutz, Little Rock; Sandy Landers, Little Rock; and Ronnie Williams, Menifee.

"AETN is fortunate to have such a strong committee working to further the mission of public broadcasting for Arkansans," AETN Executive Director Allen Weatherly said. "We look forward to sharing many more ideas and successes with them."
