Arts Fridays With Still on the Hill and Tony Bennett
This AETN Arts Friday, tune in for great shows that put a fun twist on your favorites. First, at 6:30 p.m., AETN Presents: On the Front Row With Still on the Hill, highlights the Ozarkers inventive folkgrass style. At 9 p.m., classic and contemporary come together for Great Performances: Tony Bennett: Duets II. The dazzling program features Bennetts duos with popular recording artists, including Lady Gaga, Willie Nelson, Michael Buble and the late Amy Winehouse.
Still on the Hill, the featured artists on this weeks AETN Presents, serenades viewers with a unique, foot-tapping sound with new arrangements of traditional favorites and original songs from their newest CD, Ozark: A Celebration in Song. The award-winning duo, Kelly Mullhollan and Donna Stjerna, creates pieces inspired by their travels in the belief that the stories of the Ozarks unsung heroes best reflect what makes the hills distinctive.
In yet another career triumph, Tony Bennetts latest album, Duets II, reached the No. 1 position on Billboards Hot 200. Amazingly enough, it also marked the classic crooners first No. 1 album! Watch Great Performances at 9 p.m. to see the legendary Bennett deliver a string of knock-out renditions of classic hits with a range of outstanding contemporary recording artists. Duet partners include Lady Gaga, Faith Hill, Josh Grobin, Andrea Bochelli, Queen Latifah, Carrie Underwood, Willie Nelson and many more.
