On the Same Page with Steve Bowman

Steve Bowman explores the beauty, excitement and pain of duck hunting in his book The Season, A Photographic Look at the Sport of Duck Hunting. Bowman discusses the book, which highlights one season through text and color photographs, with OTSP host Tommy Sanders. The book captures the essence of duck hunting, from the anticipation of every duck hunter to the need to pass the passion to the next generation.

An avid Arkansas duck hunter and outdoors journalist for more than 25 years, Bowman is the former outdoor editor for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and now produces outdoor television programming with JM Associates in Little Rock for ESPN Outdoors.Collaborating with Bowman for the book was Mark Stallings, a widely published outdoor sports and nature photographer whose work has been used by Ducks Unlimited, ESPN Outdoors and others.

Following the interview, Sanders spoke with panelists Phyllis Speer, regional education coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and outdoors journalist Trey Reid, former columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Speer appears regularly on Arkansas Outdoors on AETN, where she is well-known for her outdoor recipes. She is involved in all the education programs for the AGFC and coordinates the Becoming an Outdoor Woman program for Arkansas. She is a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Ozark Society.

Reid was born and raised in Arkansas and has written about fishing and the outdoors since the late 1990s. An avid conservationist, Reid was the recipient of the Conservation Communicator of the Year award, presented by the Arkansas and National Wildlife Federations in 2001.
