Be Healthy with Medicare

In Arkansas, less than 10% of Medicare beneficiaries get preventive screenings. Less than 55,000 people receiving Medicare benefits are taking advantage of available preventive services. This program will discuss what Medicare is, the preventive services that are available, the importance of utilizing these services, as well as address mental health issues and managing chronic diseases. Panelists include: Sally Johnson, director of Beneficiary Relations with the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care; Melissa Simpson, the director for SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program of the Arkansas Department of Insurance; Beverly Dunlap of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services. Beverly manages Be Well Live Well, the Arkansas Chronic Disease Self-Management Program; Dr. Denise Compton, a clinical psychologist and assistant professor with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Reynolds Institute on Aging.
