Hop in your dad’s or granddad’s classic car and take a spin down Rock ‘n’ Roll Highway 67 in the Newport area. This is the stretch of road where back in the fifties and sixties, folks like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong, Conway Twitty, Sonny Burgess and the like, kept the road hot by playing in all the clubs that were located along this roadway. It was quite the era in the history of rock ‘n roll, and we’ll let you experience some of the memories including the Rock ‘n’ Roll Highway 67 Museum in Newport.

Pivot Rock, located just outside of Eureka Springs is not the tourist trap that some folks may think.  It’s been listed in “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” and offers a really pleasant walk along a nature trail to get to the rock itself.  Along the trail you can check out a natural bridge and caves – said to have been hiding places for Jesse James and other notorious outlaws. Pivot Rock is quite a sight to behold – shaped like a huge top, balanced on its pointed end.

Folk music isn’t the only type of entertainment in the Ozarks.  At Inspiration Point near Eureka Springs you can experience Opera In The Ozarks – for 65 years it’s been a favorite with many opera and non-opera types.

Aspiring opera students give the performances. Inspiration Point itself has been described as “a mountainous place not too many miles from heaven.”

If you always wanted to go isle-hopping but couldn’t afford the luxury of going to Hawaii or the Caribbean, here is the next best thing on Lake Ouachita – the state’s largest lake – where you can go isle-hopping until your heart’s content.

In fact, some of these islands actually look like they would be located way off somewhere in the tropics!
