TRANSCRIPT

HI WELCOME BACK.

TODAY WE'RE GOING TO DO ANOTHER FUN PAINTING SO LET'S GET STARTED.

THE FIRST THING WE WANT TO DO IS MAKE MOST OF THIS CANVAS BLACK, SO I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF BLACK GESSO AND A NATURAL SEA SPONGE AND I'M GOING TO RUB SOME OF THIS ON THE CANVAS.

IN FACT LET'S RUN THE COLORS RIGHT THERE SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT COLOR OF PAINT I'M USING.

NOW THIS BLACK GESSO IS ACRYLIC.

IT'S NOT OIL PAINT. LATER WE WILL USE OIL.

THIS DRIES IN ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND IT WILL MAKE THE PAINTING GO EASILY.

I LIKE THIS SPONGE AND SOMETIMES I USE A PAPER TOWEL BUT I LIKE IT BECAUSE I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO MAKE THINGS AND THE NATURAL SPONGE HAS VARIATIONS IN IT AND GIVE YOU GREAT TEXTURE. MAYBE MAKE IT BLACK ALL THE WAY UP.

I WILL SHOW YOU THE TREES. HERE YOU GO.

KIND OF TOUCH WITH THE SPONGE LET THEM WORK AROUND LIKE THAT.

THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH. LOOK HOW ROUGH THAT IS AND WE WILL COVER THE REST OF IT UP WITH SOME GESSO.

NOW I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO ADD BIT OF THE WHITE MEDIUM UP HERE AND A BRUSH AND A TINY BIT OF THE MEDIUM AND I'M GOING TO APPLY IT TO THE WHITE PORTION OF THE CANVAS, A LITTLE MORE WHITE, AND WE WILL GENTDLY WORK IT DOWN INTO THE TREES.

DON'T COVER THEM UP TOO MUCH.

ONLY A LITTLE BIT.

NOW THAT WE'RE DONE PRIMING THE CANVAS WE CAN START WITH THE SKY SO I WILL LOAD UP A 2" BRUSH WITH A LITTLE BIT OF PRUSSIAN BLUE, NOT TOO MUCH. LET'S COME UP HERE TO THE CORNER OF THE SKY AND JUST DROP IN A LITTLE BIT OF THIS BLUE.

IT WILL GET LIGHTER WHEN IT COMES DOWN TOWARD THE HORIZON.

LOOK YOU CAN STILL SEE THE TREES THERE.

IT LOOKS VERY DETAILED. NOW WE'RE GOING TO MIX UP COLOR FOR THE EVERGREENS TREES AND I WILL TAKE A FAN BRUSH AND PULL IT THROUGH MIDNIGHT BLACK AND SAP GREEN AND NOW WE WILL START RIGHT THERE.

JUST PICK A SPOT AND START AND I WILL USE A CORNER OF THE BRUSH TO ADD DETAIL TO THAT TREE.

SEE ALL THE BACKGROUND SHAPES IN THERE. THOSE ARE VERY INTERESTING SO I DON'T WANT TO DESTROY THEM ALL. I WANT TO LEAVE A FEW OF THEM. I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE THEM ALL, BUT IT WILL REALLY LOOK LIKE AITS BIT OF EXTRA DETAIL BACK IN THERE AND IT WILL LOOK VERY NICE AND IT WAS SO EASY TO PUT IN SO WE'LL CONCENTRATE ON SAVING SOME OF IT.

NOW NOTICE HOW I'M USING THE CORNER OF THE FAN BRUSH.

I AM NOT USING THE WHOLE BRUSH AND LATER ON IT'S MORE IMPORTANT AND RIGHT HERE AND THEY'RE TOO SMALL TO USE THE WHOLE BRUSH.

NOW YOU WANT IT TO GO UP A LITTLE THERE SO I WILL MAKE THAT TREE TALLER. USE ONLY THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH TO TAP.

LET'S START THINKING ABOUT SOME TREES THAT GROW UP THE LEFT SIDE HERE, AND MAYBE WE WILL WANT -- WE WILL KIND OF FOLLOW THAT BASIC IDEA THAT WE HAVE THERE.

WE WANT THEM TO GROW UP LIKE THIS.

THEY'RE A LITTLE TALLER RIGHT THERE.

IN FACT I THINK WE NEED A BIG ONE THERE JUST TO BREAK IT UP BUT STILL I'M ONLY USING THE CORNER OF THAT BRUSH.

LET'S CONTINUE ON PAINTING THESE TREES BUT NOW I'M GOING TO LOAD UP THE 2" BRUSH INSTEAD OF THE FAN BRUSH AND I JUST WANT SOME TEXTURE DOWN HERE IN THE BOTTOM HALF. WE DID THE DETAILING PART WITH THE FAN BRUSH AND WE'RE BLOCKING IN THE DARK COLOR WITH THIS BIG 2" BRUSH AND IT ONLY TAKES JUST A FEW SECONDS TO FILL THIS ALL IN WITH GOOD TEXTURE.

NOW, WITH THAT SAME FAN BRUSH WE WERE USING WITH THE BLACK AND THE GREEN LET'S GO RIGHT OVER HERE INTO SOME CADMIUM YELLOW. MAYBE I WILL PUT A PILE OUT RIGHT THERE.

MIX IT UP JUST A LITTLE BIT.

THERE IS SOME YELLOW OCHRE AND CHISEL THAT BRUSH SO IT'S EVEN ON BOTH SIDES.

WITH THAT YELLOW AND GREEN MIX WE CAN ADD ON JUST A FEW LITTLE HIGHLIGHTS TO THESE TREES.

NOW THE FIRST COUPLE OF HIGHLIGHTS

ARE EASY. YOU HAVE THE LIMBS ALREADY THERE.

WHEN YOU GET DOWN INTO THIS DARK AREA YOU HAVE TO START MAKING THEM UP BUT THEY NEED TO BE BELIEVABLE LIMB SHAPES. YOU'RE JUST LOOKS FOR THE TOP OF THE LIMB AND HIGHLIGHT THAT PART ONLY AND IF THE PAINT WON'T COME OFF YOU THIN IT DOWN WITH A COUPLE OF DROPS OF PAINT THINNER.

MOSTLY

MOST IT WON'T COME OFF UNLESS YOU DO THAT.

WHEN YOU START PAINTING THE PAINT DOESN'T WANT TO COME OFF THE BRUSH. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT OFF IS ADD PAINT THINNER.

IT'S SO IMPORTANT WHEN YOU HIGHLIGHT YOUR TREE TO LEAVE A LOT OF THE DARK.

IN FACT LEAVE MOST OF THE DARK IN THE TREE.

THAT'S WHAT GIVES YOU THE SHADOW AREA AND MAKES YOUR TREE, MAKES YOUR WHOLE PAINTING REALLY SO REAL. WITHOUT IT WILL LOOK FLAT.

I LIKE THAT AND A COUPLE MORE TREES ABOUT HERE, SO I HAVE RELOADED THAT BRUSH SO IT'S FRESH.

WE CAN DROP IN A LITTLE BIT OF HIGHLIGHT.

THIS JUST SUGGESTS A COUPLE OF TREES BACK THERE.

WE DON'T EVEN SEE THE TOP.

NOW LET'S MIX UP ANOTHER COLOR.

THIS TIME I WILL START OFF WITH BRIGHT RED.

THERE IS SOME CADMIUM YELLOW AND YELLOW OCHRE.

MAYBE THERE IS SOME MORE YELLOW OCHRE.

AND I AM LOOKING FOR KIND OF A GOLDEN ORANGE COLOR.

WHEN YOU HAVE IT -- I LIKE THAT AND THEN YOU PUSH THE BRUSH.

PULL IT AND PUSH IT AND LOAD ITS CORRECTLY.

WITH THE ORANGE COLOR ON THE BRUSH WE CAN BEGIN TAPPING IN A FEW LITTLE TREES BACK HERE AND THESE TREES I THINK IT'S AUTUMN TIME BECAUSE OF THE COLOR I CHOSE SO WE USE A LOT OF GOLDEN COLORS TODAY, ORANGES AND REDS AND I AM TRYING TO GET THE EFFECT OF THESE TREES KIND OF GROWING ALMOST IN WITH THE PINE TREES.

THEY'RE KIND OF GROWING TOGETHER.

ALL RIGHT. I'M USING ONLY THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH TO TAP THESE IN.

DON'T USE THE WHOLE BRUSH BECAUSE YOU WILL GET WHAT I CALL A RUBBER STAMP EFFECT.

IT DOESN'T LOOK AS GOOD.

IT LOOKS SQUARE LIKE YOU HIT IT WITH A STAMP. INSTEAD USE THE CORNER AND THE ANGLE OF THE BRUSH, TURN IT, MOVE IT AROUND SO ALL DIFFERENT THINGS ARE HAPPENING.

LEAVE A LOT OF THE DARK IN THERE.

THAT DARK IS SO IMPORTANT JUST LIKE THE EVERGREENS TREES AND LOOK AT THAT.

YOU HAVE MORE RED IN THAT TREE.

THAT'S NEAT.

IN FACT I'M GOING TO GRAB SOME OCHRE.

THAT LOOKS NICE TOO.

JUST CHANGE IT UP ANYWAY YOU WANT AND AS IT COMES OUT HERE TOWARD THE SIDE I THINK THEY SHOULD GET SMALLER SO MAYBE ONLY MAKE THEM ABOUT THAT TALL.

IT'S SO IMPORTANT HERE TO USE ONLY THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH .

NOW, I HAVE GONE BACK TO THE FAN BRUSH AND I WILL PICK UP A LITTLE MORE CADMIUM YELLOW. WATCH THIS.

THIS IS GOING TO BE GREAT.

LET'S SPARKLE ON IN THERE A COUPLE OF REALLY BRIGHT HIGHLIGHTS, NOT TOO MUCH, ONLY A LITTLE TINY BIT, AND I HAD TO MAKE A DECISION.

THE LIGHT IS COMING IN FROM THIS DIRECTION SO FOCUS MORE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS ON THE RIGHT.

WOW.

THAT REALLY SPARKLES THEM UP JUST A LITTLE BIT.

IT'S SUBTLE BUT VERY, VERY EFFECTIVE.

JUST A LITTLE BIT IS ALL YOU NEED.

TOO MUCH OF THIS AND IT WON'T BE AS EFFECTIVE. THE NEXT THING WE'RE GOING TO DO IS ADD A FEW EVERGREENS ON THE LEFT HERE AND THESE EVERGREENS ARE GOING TO BE LARGER SO I AM FOCUSING ON THESE LIMBS THAT HANG OUT OVER THESE BRIGHT TREES, AND I AM USING ONLY THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH.

SEE THE BRUSH COMES DOWN AND HITS WITH THE CORNER FIRST.

THERE.

IT'S ALREADY DARK BECAUSE OF THE BLACK GESSO AND THE GREEN AND BLACK THAT WE PUT DOWN.

THIS JUST GIVES US A LITTLE OUTLINE OF A TREE.

THERE.

A LITTLE MORE COLOR AND WE WILL JUST FINISH IT RIGHT UP.

IN FACT LET'S HAVE SOME OF TEXTURE RIGHT HERE.

I THINK WE WILL HAVE TWO, THREE TREES OFF ON THIS SIDE SO WE WILL JUST STAMP IN SOME TEXTURE LIKE THIS.

NOW WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH THAT WE WILL TAKE A LITTLE BIT OF DARK SIENNA AND WHITE AND MIX THEM TOGETHER BUT I WANT BOTH COLORS IN THERE. DON'T OVER MIX AND I WILL CUT OFF A LITTLE BIT OF PAINT, AND PUT THAT IN JUST A LITTLE TREE TRUNK.

THERE IT GOES.

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT JUST AN INDICATION OF SOMETHING BACK IN HERE.

MOST OF IT WILL BE COVERED UP.

THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH. IN FACT LET'S COVER IT UP RIGHT NOW.

THERE'S SOME HIGHLIGHTS. THIS IS THE FAN BRUSH WITH THE CADMIUM YELLOW AND THE SAP GREEN AND THE MIDNIGHT BLACK.

NOW THESE HIGHLIGHTS SHOULD BE DONE IN STAGES, IN KIND OF IN STEPS HERE SO YOU CAN SEE DARK.

MAKE SURE YOU PRESERVE ALL THAT DARK. IN FACT WHILE I AM THINKING ABOUT IT LET'S PUSH THE TREE TRUNKS RIGHT BACK INTO THE TREES.

WE DON'T WANT THEM TOO SOLID AND MAYBE THERE IS TOO MUCH TREE TRUNK SHOWING JUST PUSH IT WITH THE DIRTY BRUSH AND IT WILL GO AWAY AND LEAVE ALL THAT DARK.

OKAY.

LET IT GET DARKER AS IT COMES DOWN TOWARD THE BOTTOM OF THE TREE BECAUSE NOW IT'S IN SHADOW.

THERE. AND LET'S JUST PICK OUT THE LIMBS THAT COME IN LIKE THIS.

YOU HAVE FORM THEM BECAUSE WE CAN'T SEE THEM SO YOU HAVE TO MAKE THEM UP IN YOUR MIND AS YOU DROP THE HIGHLIGHT ON.

IT'S A LITTLE MORE TRICKY BUT I AM SURE YOU CAN DO IT.

NEXT I WILL PULL A 1" BRUSH THROUGH SOME ORANGE. NOW I PULLED IT THROUGH IN ONE DIRECTION AND I HAVE ROUNDED THE TOP CORNER.

PUT THE ROUNDED CORNER FACING UP AND RIGHT HERE. START BUILDING A TREE.

NOW I'M JUST GOING TO TOUCH, PUSH IN LIGHTLY AND BUILD ALL THESE SHAPES.

THERE.

IF YOU DON'T PUSH LIGHT IT WILL MIX WITH THE BACKGROUND COLORS HERE AND IT WILL SORT OF LOOK LIKE MUD.

IT WILL BE VERY DULL LOOKING.

THE COLOR WON'T BE BRIGHT.

THERE. NOW, MAYBE WE WANT A LIMB THAT STICKS OUT LIKE THAT.

WITH THE SCRIPT LINER AND DARK SIENNA AND WHITE AND ALSO PAINT THINNER. YOU NEED QUITE A BIT OF PAINT THINNER AND PULL THE BRUSH AND TO A VERY SHARP PAINT AND USING THE PAINT COLOR THAT WE JUST MIXED LET'S DROP IN A FEW LITTLE TREE TRUNKS BACK IN HERE. THERE.

THIS ADDS QUITE A BIT OF DETAIL TO YOUR PAINTING WITHOUT REALLY DOING TOO MUCH.

ALL RIGHT.

MAYBE LESS AND LESS BACK IN HERE BECAUSE I THINK BACK IN THERE A LITTLE FURTHER AWAY THAN THAT TREE RIGHT THERE.

IN FACT LET'S GIVE HIM A TRUNK SINCE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HIM WE MIGHT AS WELL DO IT.

THERE.

AND A COUPLE MORE LITTLE THINGS RIGHT HERE.

NOW LET'S ADD A LITTLE EXTRA HIGHLIGHT TO THIS TREE UP HERE, RIGHT HERE.

THE LIGHT IS COMING IN IN THIS DIRECTION, SO WE WANT TO JUST A COUPLE OF BRIGHT LIMBS.

THERE.

I ADDED WHITE TO THE YELLOW COLOR WE WERE USING FOR A LITTLE TOUCH RIGHT IN THERE.

LOOK.

A LITTLE EXTRA HIGHLIGHT GOES A LONG WAY. MAKES YOUR PAINTING LOOK SO DETAILED.

WHILE WE HAVE THAT COLOR ON THE BRUSH LET'S HAVE A LITTLE TINY TREE OR BUSH RIGHT HERE, JUST SOMETHING.

I THINK THIS IS A GOOD TIME TO PUSH A COUPLE OF THE TREE TRUNKS BACK INTO THE PAINTING AND I AM JUST USING A FAN BRUSH.

YOU CAN USE THE 1" BRUSH IF YOU WANTED TO. IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER.

I AM NOT REALLY TRYING TO COVER UP THE WHOLE TREE TRUNK AND THEY LOOK NICE AND WE SPENT THAT TIME PUTTING THEM IN AND YOU WANT TO SEE THEM.

I WANT TO JUST PUSH THEM INTO THE TREE.

NOW I WILL TAP THE 2" BRUSH INTO THE ALIZARIN CRIMSON AND SAP GREEN AND DARK SIENNA AND LET'S PAINT IN THE LAND AREA AND ADD SOME TEXTURE HERE.

NOW THE SAP GREEN AND THEN ALIZARIN CRIMSON. THEY MAKE A VERY NICE BROWN COLOR SO WHEN YOU MIX THOSE TOGETHER ON THE BRUSH WITH THE BLACK IT'S MORE OF A BROWN THAN IT IS GREEN .

AND JUST LIKE BEFORE UP THERE THIS IS JUST FOR THE TEXTURE, NOT SO MUCH FOR THE COLOR, ALTHOUGH THE COLOR WILL SHOW THROUGH A LITTLE. ANYWHERE WHERE YOU HAVE THE JUST THE BLACK ACRYLIC SHOWING FILL IT IN WITH OIL PAINT BECAUSE THE ACRYLIC IS ACTUALLY FLAT, NOT SHINY.

OIL PAINT IS PRETTY SHINY SO YOU WILL REALLY NOTICE IT IF YOU LEAVE IT SHOWING WITH JUST A LITTLE BIT OF DARK SIENNA AND WHITE ON THE KNIFE LET'S DROP IN A LITTLE CLIFF OR AREA WHERE LAND KIND OF SLOPES DOWN AT A STEEP ANGLE.

WE WILL PUT SOME GRASS AROUND IT AND IT WILL MAKE A LITTLE MORE SENSE FOR YOU FOR NOW.

WE JUST NEED SOME COLOR THERE.

ALL RIGHT.

NOW, MAYBE IT CONTINUES RIGHT HERE. I AM JUST KIND OF MAKING THIS UP.

I DON'T WANT ANYTHING EXCEPT THE GREEN AND THE BLACK AND THE ALIZARIN CRIMSON THAT WE HAD DOWN JUST A MINUTE AGO. SOMETIMES I LIKE TO BLOCK IN ROCKS AND DIRT BEFORE I START THEM BUT TODAY I DON'T NEED MUCH TEXTURE.

LET THEM GET SMALLER AS THEY GO BACK.

NOW, I WILL TAP THE 2" BRUSH A LITTLE BIT OF CADMIUM YELLOW AND SAP GREEN, AND LET'S BEGIN THINKING ABOUT SOME GRASS BACK HERE.

LET'S JUST START RIGHT HERE AND TAP. TAP LIGHTLY, AND THIS IS THE GRASS THAT'S ON TOP OF THAT BANK.

SEE THERE'S SOME LAND THERE AND DROPS OFF AND WE WILL HAVE SOME MORE.

IT KIND OF GIVES YOU A GOOD IDEA WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE.

THERE.

LESS AND LESS HIGHLIGHT AS YOU COME AWAY BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THE EYE TO TRAVEL OFF THE PAINTING SO MUCH.

I WANT TO KEEP THE CENTER OF INTEREST RIGHT IN HERE A LITTLE BIT OF THE GRASS GROWS OVER HELPS TO PUSH IT BACK A LITTLE.

LET'S DO THE SAME THING TO THIS RIDGE RIGHT HERE.

NOW LET'S MAKE A LITTLE ROAD HERE IN THE FOREGROUND, SO THERE'S MY DARK SIENNA AND WHITE.

I WILL JUST GRAB A LITTLE BIT ON THE KNIFE AND LET'S START RIGHT HERE.

WE CAN SCRULP THIS PATH IN WITH THE GRASS SO IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT RIGHT NOW. THERE IT COMES.

ALL RIGHT. LOOK HOW IT'S PICKING UP THE COLORS UNDERNEATH, THE GREEN AND THE BLACK.

THERE.

VERY, VERY LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE KNIFE. LET ALL THOSE THINGS HAPPEN IN THERE, ALL THOSE VARIATIONS WITH THE LIGHT AND THE DARK.

LOOKS VERY ROUGH.

THIS PATH OR ROAD HAS BEEN HERE FOR A LONG TIME. A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE USED IT AND THEY SORT OF WORN IT OUT A LITTLE.

GIVE IT SOME CHARACTER. NOW BACK HERE I SUGGEST DOING LESS AND LESS OF THIS BREAKING. IT'S TOO FAR AWAY TO SEE A LOT OF DETAIL.

AS YOU COME FORWARD A LITTLE BIT OF BLACK.

REALLY LOAD THAT TEXTURE ON, A LOT OF VARIATIONS IN COLOR IN THE FOREGROUND.

YEAH.

NEXT I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO ADD A LITTLE EXTRA BRIGHT HIGHLIGHT TO THIS PATH SO I GRAB ALMOST PURE WHITE, A LITTLE BIT OF DARK SIENNA, AND LOOK AT THAT.

YOU CAN SPRINKLE ON SOME OF THAT HIGHLIGHT BUT DON'T OVER DO. ALL YOU NEED IS A LITTLE BIT AND KIND OF WORK IT IN, BLEND IT. DON'T JUST PUT IT ON THERE AND LEAVE IT ALONE.

IT WILL LOOK TOO HARSH.

THERE LOOK AT THAT. NOT SO MUCH IN THE BACKGROUND. LIMIT IT TO THE FOREGROUND. YOU WILL FIND IT WORKS MUCH BETTER THAT WAY.

LET THE PATH GET QUIETER AND SOFTER AS IT GOES AWAY FROM US.

NOW I GRABBED THE CLEAN 2" BRUSH AND LIGHTLY SWIPE THE ROAD ACROSS TWO OR THREE TIMES JUST TO SOFTEN IT. THAT'S ENOUGH.

DON'T OVER DO.

YOU DON'T WANT TO DO IT TOO MUCH. NOW WE'RE GOING TO HIGHLIGHT THE GRASS IN HERE SO I WILL LOAD UP THE 2" BRUSH WITH CADMIUM YELLOW AND BLACK AND TAP IT AGAINST THE PALLET.

THAT WORKS THE PAINT EVENLY INTO THE BRUSH.

WE WILL COME RIGHT HERE AND TOUCH. TOUCH VERY LIGHTLY AND WORK THAT HIGHLIGHT AROUND.

WOW.

YOU CAN GET SOME REALLY SOFT GRASSY AREAS IN HERE VERY, VERY QUICKLY.

MAYBE WE WILL RAISE THAT UP MAYBE THIS IS A ROLLING MEADOW.

I THINK THAT WOULD LOOK NICE.

PUSH THE PATH BACK INTO THE DISTANCE.

ALL RIGHT. MAYBE WE WILL DROP DOWN AND DO ANOTHER LAYER.

WORK IN LAYERS WHEN YOU DO THIS.

IT WILL LOOK BETTER. SAVE SOME OF THE DARK.

DARK IS SO IMPORTANT.

NOW IF YOU PUT THIS PAINT ON AND IT'S TOO BRIGHT YOU CAN TAP IT, TAP IT AGAIN.

IT WILL PICK UP THE DARK COLOR DOWN HERE AND THAT WILL KIND OF DULL THE COLOR DOWN FOR YOU, BUT IF YOU WANT THE COLOR VERY PURE ONLY TAP IT ONCE. COME IN HERE AND TOUCH LIKE THAT.

THEN DON'T TOUCH IT AGAIN.

LEAVE IT BRIGHT.

THAT WORKS TOO.

WHATEVER YOU WANT. YOU CAN MAKE ANY KIND OF EFFECT UP HERE.

ALL RIGHT.

I THINK TODAY IN MY PAINTING I WANT THIS TO LOOK LIKE THIS AND HIGHLIGHTS IN THE GRASS AND DARKER AND LOOKS LIKE A ROUNDED HILL THERE.

NOW THAT WE'RE DONE WITH THE RIGHT SIDE WE CAN WORK ON THE LEFT SIDE.

I WILL LOAD UP THAT BRUSH THE SAME WAY AND WE WILL BEGIN TAPPING.

TAP LIGHTLY.

NOW IF THE PAINT DOESN'T COME OFF THE BRUSH AND THIS IS COMING OFF PRETTY WELL THEN YOU MIGHT NEED TO THIN IT DOWN WITH SOME PAINT THINNER AND POPS RIGHT OFF THE BRUSH, VERY, VERY LITTLE EFFORT.

IF YOU PUSH TOO HARD IT WILL MIX TOGETHER, MUDDY TOGETHER, AND INSTEAD I WANT VERY SOFT LITTLE PATCHES OF GRASS HERE.

ALL RIGHT.

RIGHT HERE.

AND I WILL CAREFULLY WORK IN A LITTLE BIT OF GRASS RIGHT IN BETWEEN THE PATH AND THAT LITTLE BIT OF DIRT THERE. THERE.

KIND OF COVER UP THE EDGES OF THE PATH WITH YOUR HIGHLIGHT, PUSH THE PATH RIGHT BACK INTO THE DISTANCE.

NOW, I HAVE ADDED JUST A TOUCH OF WHITE TO THAT SAME YELLOW AND GREEN AND WATCH THIS.

THIS IS EXCITING.

TOUCH VERY LIGHTLY AND YOU WILL GET A SPRINKLING OF HIGHLIGHT, EXTRA HIGHLIGHT RIGHT THERE.

LOOK HOW THAT JUST POPS THAT MEADOW FORWARD.

USE SOME ON THIS ONE TOO.

JUST DO THIS AND HIT IT A COUPLE OF TIMES, LEAVE IT ALONE.

DON'T OVER WORK IT.

NEXT WE WILL PULL THE FILBERT BRUSH THROUGH A LITTLE DARK BROWN AND FLIP IT OVER AND LIGHT BROWN AND DARK ON ONE SIDE AND LIGHT ON THE OTHER SIDE. WE CAN PULL DOWN AND GET THE HIGHLIGHT AND THE SHADOW IN ONE PULL.

NOW I WILL TAKE THE LIGHT SIDE AND POINT IT TOWARD THE RIGHT, AND RIGHT HERE.

LET'S DROP IN A LITTLE FENCE.

LOOK AT THAT. HIGHLIGHT AND SHADOW AT ONE TIME.

VERY QUICKLY.

VERY, VERY EASY.

THERE.

I HAVE LOADED UP THE LINER BRUSH SAME WAY, DARK ON ONE SIDE, LIGHT ON THE OTHER SIDE, AND LIGHT SIDE ON THE TOP.

LET'S DROP IN A COUPLE OF RAILS TO THIS FENCE. RELOAD.

MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE RIGHT ENDS IN THE CORRECT PILE OF PAINT.

DON'T PUT THE LIGHT IN THE DARK.

THERE.

THIS SIDE NEEDS SOME RAILS TOO.

DON'T MAKE THEM QUITE AS LARGE BECAUSE THEY'RE FURTHER AWAY.

MAYBE THAT ONE GOES DOWN INTO THE GROUND TOO.

BACK TO THAT 2" BRUSH AND WE CAN PUSH BACK BOTTOM OF THESE LITTLE FENCE POSTS JUST ENOUGH SO THAT THEY KIND OF FIT INTO THE PAINTING. THEY BELONG WHERE THEY ARE. THERE THE GRASS IS JUST GROWING UP AND AROUND.

ALL RIGHT.

I THINK WE HAVE A FINISHED PAINTING.

ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS SIGN IT.

I HAD A LOT OF FUN. I HOPE YOU DID TOO.

TUNE IN NEXT TIME AND WE WILL DO ANOTHER GREAT PAINTING TOGETHER AND THANKS FOR WATCHING.
