TRANSCRIPT

HI WELCOME BACK.

TODAY WE'RE GOING TO DO ANOTHER FUN PAINTING.

SO LET'S GET STARTED. THE FIRST THING WE NEED TO DO IS COAT THIS CANVAS WITH THIN WHITE MEDIUM SO I WILL DIP A 2" BRUSH INTO THE WHITE AND WE WILL SPREAD IT AROUND EVENLY OVER THE CANVAS AND WE WILL RUN THE COLORS ACROSS THE TOP THERE SO YOU KNOW WHAT I AM USING TO PAINT THIS PAINTING TODAY.

ALL RIGHT.

I THINK THAT'S GOOD. NOW WE CAN START PAINTING THE SKY.

NOW I WILL TAP A 2" BRUSH THROUGH A LITTLE BIT OF PRUSSIAN BLUE AND MIDNIGHT BLACK, AND LET'S JUST PICK A CORNER AND START DROPPING IN OUR SKY.

I REALLY LIKE THAT LITTLE TOUCH OF MIDNIGHT BLACK IN THERE.

HELPS TO MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE GRAY, NOT SO SHINY BLUE.

THERE DROP IN A NICE LITTLE SKY.

I DO RECOMMEND STARTING AT THE CORNER AND AT THE TOPS AND WORKING DOWN AND THAT WAY AUTOMATICALLY IT'S DARKER AT THE TOP AND LIGHTER TOWARDS THE HORIZON AND THAT'S THE WAY WE WANT IT.

THE LANDSCAPE AND EVERYTHING SHOULD BE MUCH LIGHTER TOWARDS THE HORIZON.

DARK AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE CANVAS.

THE NEXT THING WE WANT TO DO IS BLEND OUT THE SKY SO I GRABBED A CLEAN 2" BRUSH AND I'M GOING TO COME RIGHT DOWN HERE AT THE BOTTOM AND GENTLY WORK UP.

NOW I HAVE A FEW BRUSHES GOING.

YOU MAY HAVE TO STOP AND WASH YOURS AND THAT IS ALL RIGHT.

IT HELPS ME PAINT A LITTLE FASTER.

THERE WE GO.

THERE'S GOOD ENOUGH.

I WILL SET THAT BRUSH DOWN AND PICK UP A 1" BRUSH AND PULL IT THROUGH A LITTLE BIT OF WHITE PAINT AND LET'S MAKE SOME CLOUDS UP HERE.

I'M GOING TO USE ONLY THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH TO ROLL IT IN, SEE THE ROLLING SHAPE THERE, AND YOU GET VERY NICE CLOUDS THAT WAY, VERY FLUFFY AND LARGE.

IF YOU WANT A LITTLE MORE CONTROL YOU COULD USE A FAN BRUSH BUT I REALLY LIKE THESE 1" BRUSH CLOUDS.

THEY'RE VERY FREE.

THERE YOU GO.

THERE ARE AREAS WHERE THE PAINT IS THICK OR THIN OR NO PAINT AT ALL. WHEN WE BLEND IT WE WILL HAVE ALL SORTS OF NICE THINGS, NICE VARIATIONS IN HERE.

IT WILL LOOK VERY DETAILED AND IT'S VERY, VERY EASY TO CREATE.

AND MAYBE ONE MORE RIGHT HERE.

THE NEXT THING WE WANT TO DO IS BLEND THESE CLOUDS, SO I CHANGED AGAIN TO A CLEAN 2" BRUSH.

I'M GOING TO DO TINY CIRCLES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CLOUDS ONLY JUST TO SOFTEN THEM AND MAKE THEM LOOK BLURRY ON THE TOP THAN THE BOTTOM.

THIS DOESN'T MAKE MUCH, JUST A LITTLE BIT AND WIPE THE BRUSH OFF AND WE CAN FLUFF THEM RIGHT UP.

THIS BLENDS OUT THE TOP OF THE CLOUD.

NOW I HAVE OUR MIDNIGHT BLACK AND PRUSSIAN BLUE MIX RIGHT HERE AND TO THAT I'M GOING TO ADD SOME DARK SIENNA AND THEN SOME WHITE TO LIGHTEN IT UP, AND I WILL USE THIS TO PAINT OUR LITTLE MOUNTAIN RANGE BACK HERE, AND NOW I CUT ACROSS THE PAINT TO GET A LITTLE BIT OUT ON THE TIP OF THE KNIFE OR EDGE OF THE KNIFE AND I USE THAT ALMOST TO DRAW IN THE BASIC SHAPE OR OUTLINE OF THIS MOUNTAIN. THERE'S WANT MUCH PAINT HERE ON THE CANVAS BECAUSE I'M GOING TO HIGHLIGHT IT AND IF THERE IS TOO MUCH IT WILL MAKE IT DIFFICULT AND BE CAREFUL AND ALMOST LIKE A STAIN ON A CANVAS.

IT'S WORKED VERY HARD INTO THE GRAIN OF THE CANVAS SO WHEN WE GO TO HIGHLIGHT WE ALMOST USE THE GRAIN AS A CANVAS TO DO A LOT OF THE WORK FOR US.

MAYBE WE WILL MAKE THAT HIGHER RIGHT THERE. YEAH I LIKE THAT.

BE VERY LOOSE AND FREE WITH YOUR MOUNTAIN. BACK TO A 2" BRUSH AND WE CAN GRAB THIS MOUNTAIN AT THE TOP AND BLEND DOWN.

THIS MAKES IT LOOK A LITTLE MORE MISTY AT THE BOTTOM THAN THE TOP AND ALSO REMOVES SOME OF THE EXCESS PAINT.

NOW LOOK AT THE ANGLES OF MY BRUSH.

I AM PULLING IT ALMOST STRAIGHT DOWN BECAUSE TODAY I THINK I WANT TO PAINT A LITTLE RIDGE OF MOUNTAINS AND I WANT THEM VERY STEEP.

NOW I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF DARK SIENNA AND WHITE ON THE KNIFE.

WE CAN BEGIN DROPPING ON SOME VERY NICE HIGHLIGHTED AREAS TO THIS MOUNTAIN.

NOW THINK ABOUT THE ANGLE OF THIS MOUNTAIN AS YOU DO THIS.

REMEMBER I WANTED IT VERY STEEP SO MAKE SURE YOU MATCH THE ANGLE OF YOUR PULL -- THE ANGLE YOU WANT YOUR MOUNTAIN TO BE, AND I HAVE ALMOST NO PRESSURE ON THE KNIFE BECAUSE I WANT ALL THIS BREAKING IN HERE, ALL THESE LITTLE HOLES IN THE PAINT.

THE MOUNTAIN LOOKS VERY ROUGH.

THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL GET THAT IS IF YOU APPLY NO PRESSURE.

JUST GUIDE THE KNIFE ON THE WAY DOWN. ALL RIGHT.

AND YOU CAN SEE I HAVE NOT OVER MIXED MY PAINT. LESS VARIATIONS OF COLOR IN IT SO I GET ALL SORTS OF THINGS THAT HAPPEN AND I DON'T HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT.

THEY JUST HAPPEN AUTOMATICALLY.

IT'S GREAT.

I LOVE IT WHEN THINGS JUST HAPPEN AND I DON'T HAVE TO PLAN THEM OUT AND IT LOOKS SO DETAILED.

THERE A LITTLE MORE RIGHT IN THAT AREA.

NOW WE'RE GOING TO MIX UP A COLOR WITH THE SHADOW ON OUR MOUNTAIN SO I HAVE SOME MIDNIGHT BLACK AND TITANIUM WHITE AND USING THE EDGE OF THE KNIFE WE CAN DROP IN THE SHADOWS.

WHEN ADDING SHADOWS TO THE MOUNTAIN IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THE ANGLE.

THIS ANGLE SHOULD BE OPPOSITE THAN THE OTHER ONE.

IF THE HAVE THE ANGLES RUNNING THE SAME DIRECTION IT WON'T LOOK RIGHT SO REMEMBER THAT WHEN HIGHLIGHTING. WE'RE ADDING THE SHADOW AND KEEP IT DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER DIRECTION AND ALSO APPLY NO PRESSURE TO THE KNIFE.

NOW I HOPE THESE ARE HARD TO SEE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT THEM VERY DISTINCT.

MAYBE YOU CAN'T SEE THEM AT ALL MAYBE.

THAT'S OKAY. I JUST WANT SOME TEXTURE THERE ON THE CANVAS.

ALL RIGHT. TOUCH JUST A TOUCH OF TITANIUM WHITE.

LET'S MAKE A VERY BRIGHT MISTY AREA, KIND OF FLOATS AROUND HERE, MAYBE IT EVEN COMES UP LIKE THIS.

YEAH, THAT LOOKS NICE.

THE NEXT THING WE WANT TO DO IS CREATE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN IN FRONT OF THIS ONE, SO I HAVE SOME MIDNIGHT BLACK AND DARK SIENNA AND I WILL CUT OFF A LITTLE BIT OF PAINT ON THE KNIFE AND RIGHT HERE.

THERE IT GOES. WE HAVE ANOTHER MOUNTAIN.

A LITTLE BIT CLOSER.

YEAH, THAT'S NICE.

IT REALLY PUSHES THAT OTHER ONE BACK.

I LIKE IT. WHEN IN MY PAINTINGS I CAN DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS IT ADDS EXTRA LAYERS AND GIVES YOUR PAINTING MORE INTEREST AND DEPTH.

THERE LOOK HOW DARKER IT IS.

A LITTLE MORE PAINT ON THERE.

MAKE IT NICE ROUGH SHAPE AND MAYBE -- I KNOW LET'S HAVE A DROP OFF SORT OF A THING RIGHT THERE.

FILL IT IN WITH GOOD DARK PAINT.

LET'S GO BACK TO THE 2" BRUSH AND BLEND THIS MOUNTAIN OUT.

GRAB IT AT THE TOP AND DOWN JUST LIKE BEFORE, AND JUST LIKE THE BIG ONE THIS WILL SOFTEN THE MOUNTAIN, MAKE IT LOOK MORE MISTY AT THE BOTTOM.

PULL IT OUT LIKE THAT. THERE.

IN FACT LET ME SET THAT BRUSH DOWN.

PICK THE KNIFE BACK UP.

LET'S HAVE A LITTLE EXTRA BUMP DOWN THERE.

YOU CAN DO THAT.

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND IN A PAINTING CAN YOU ADD THINGS IN OR SUBTRACT, WHATEVER YOU WANT.

YOU'RE VERY FREE ON YOUR OWN PAINTING.

NOW, I WILL MIX UP SOME WHITE AND DARK SIENNA AND LET'S START HIGHLIGHTING THIS MOUNTAIN.

LET THAT KNIFE RUN RIGHT DOWN AND YOU WILL GET SO MUCH BREAKING IN THERE IF YOU DO IT LIGHTLY.

I LOVE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS.

LOOK AT ALL THE TEXTURE IN THERE, ALL THE DETAIL.

LOOKS VERY ROUGH WITH A LOT OF SHADOWS IN THERE.

YEAH, THAT LOOKS NICE.

NOW WE WILL DO THIS ONE.

THERE.

WIGGLE THE KNIFE AROUND, KIND OF LIKE THAT. YOU GET SOME ROUGH AREAS.

AND THIS ONE COMES DOWN LIKE THAT. THAT'S NOT QUITE AS BRIGHT. THAT'S OKAY.

LET ALL OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN.

THEY HAPPEN BECAUSE YOU DON'T OVER MIX YOUR PAINT.

LEAVE IT WITH ALL OF THE VARIATIONS IN THERE.

DON'T TAKE THEM AWAY.

DON'T MIX THEM OUT. THEY'RE SO NICE.

NOW WE CAN BEGIN MAKING SOME SHADOW AREAS IN THIS MOUNTAIN.

I HAVE PURE MIDNIGHT BLACK ON THE KNIFE, AND LET'S DROP IN SOME EXTREMELY DARK AREAS RIGHT OVER HERE. YEAH, LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE. MAYBE IT WRAPS AROUND LIKE THAT. MAYBE IT EVEN -- YEAH, LET'S DO THIS.

WATCH THIS.

LET'S CONNECT THESE TWO AREAS AND WE'VE MADE KIND OF LIKE A CUP SHAPED VALLEY BACK IN THERE. THAT'S NEAT.

A LITTLE EXTRA DETAIL.

HERE'S SOME UP HERE. LET IT GO RIGHT DOWN.

MAYBE THOSE TWO THERE THEY MIX TOGETHER.

THERE WE GO.

AND THIS ONE.

JUST PICK OUT WHERE THE SHADOWS WOULD BE AND DROP THEM RIGHT IN.

OKAY.

THIS ONE RIGHT HERE.

IT'S SO IMPORTANT THAT YOU USE A LIGHT PRESSURE. IF YOU PUSH TOO HARD IT WILL MIX TOGETHER AND YOU WON'T BE HAPPY WITH IT SO I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR PAINTINGS SO APPLY VERY LITTLE PRESSURE HERE. LOAD THE SMALL EDGE OF THE KNIFE AND GET INTO THIS LITTLE GUY HERE AND WIPE THE KNIFE OFF. PICK UP A LITTLE BIT OF TITANIUM WHITE AND LET'S SPRINKLE ON A COUPLE OF EXTRA HIGHLIGHTS. THERE.

SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS MOUNTAIN LOOK A LITTLE MORE DETAILED, A LITTLE MORE CLOSE THAN THE OTHER MOUNTAIN IN THE BACKGROUND.

KIND OF PUSH THAT ONE BACK AND BRING THIS ONE FORWARD WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT.

I WANT TO CREATE DEPTH IN THE PAINTING LIKE YOU CAN WALK BACK THERE TO THAT MOUNTAIN. THERE.

DON'T OVER DO.

HIT IT A FEW TIMES AND LEAVE IT ALONE. NOW IT'S TIME TO CREATE SOME MIST AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS MOUNTAIN, SO I WILL GO BACK TO THAT CLEAN 2" BRUSH.

VERY LIGHTLY WE WILL JUST BRUSH OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN JUST ENOUGH TO BLUR IT SOFTEN IT A LITTLE.

I DON'T WANT TO LOSE ALL OF THE DETAIL HERE.

I LIKE THAT.

I LIKE THAT MY MOUNTAIN LOOKS CLOSE SO I DON'T WANT TO DESTROY IT ALL.

LET'S CREATE ANOTHER LITTLE LAYER OF MIST DOWN HERE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MOUNTAIN RIGHT WHERE WE BLENDED IT WITH THE BRUSH.

I'M JUST DIPPING THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH INTO A LITTLE BIT OF TITANIUM WHITE AND USING THE TINY CIRCLES, SAME WAY YOU DID ON THE BIG ONE, SAME EXACT TECHNIQUE. THE NEXT THING WE WANT TO DO IS TAP A 1" BRUSH THROUGH BLACK AND SAP GREEN AND LET'S CREATE SOME LITTLE TREES IN THE BACKGROUND SO I WILL TAP WITH THE TOP CORNER OF THE BRUSH, JUST ENOUGH TO GET A BASIC SUGGESTION OF A TREE BACK HERE.

I REALLY DON'T WANT MUCH DETAIL.

TOO MUCH DETAIL BACK HERE IT WON'T LOOK RIGHT AT ALL, SO KEEP THE DETAIL VERY MINIMAL BACK HERE, VERY SOFT SHAPES, AND LIGHT COLORS, AND AS WE WORKED FOR THEN WE CAN GO INTO DARKER COLORS AND MORE DISTINCT SHAPES.

U

FOR NOW WE JUST NEED SOME BACKGROUND MATERIAL.

NOW WE'RE GOING TO PAINT SOME WATER SO I WILL PULL A 1" BRUSH THROUGH A LITTLE PRUSSIAN BLUE AND MIDNIGHT BLACK AND LET'S HAVE THE WATER START RIGHT HERE.

NOW IT'S SMALL AND GETS NICE AND LARGE AS IT COMES OUT SO WE HAVE TO VERY CAREFULLY BLOCK IT IN, SOMETHING LIKE THAT. MAYBE WE WILL BRING IT OUT LIKE THIS.

WE WILL COVER THAT UP WITH LAND, SO NOW WE HAVE A VERY FREE FLOWING STREAM.

WE CAN MAKE IT GO ANYWHERE WE WANT. WITH THE FAN BRUSH AND A LITTLE BIT OF THE SAME TREE COLOR LET'S DROP IN THE SUGGESTION OF PINE TREES BACK HERE.

I'M USING ONLY THE TOP CORNER OF THE BRUSH TO DROP THESE IN JUST PULLING STRAIGHT DOWN, VERY SIMPLE. JUST A SUGGESTION.

MAYBE THE TREETOPS.

THAT'S ALL IT IS. VERY FAR AWAY IN THE BACKGROUND. LET'S ADD A COUPLE MORE OVER HERE TOO.

THERE.

THEY KIND OF GROW IN BETWEEN THESE OTHER TREES HERE.

RELOAD THAT BRUSH. LET'S MAKE AN EVERGREEN RIGHT HERE.

JUST TAP WITH THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH.

WORK ALL THE WAY DOWN BACK AND FORTH.

GOOD ENOUGH.

ONE MORE.

THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN WE NEED ANOTHER ONE. THESE ARE EASY AND EXCITING TO MAKE AND YOU CAN DROP THEM ANYWHERE YOU WANT.

ONE LAST ONE AND THEN WE WILL THINK ABOUT SOME LARGER TREES.

NOW I WILL LOAD UP THE FAN BRUSH WITH SOME MIDNIGHT BLACK AND SAP GREEN AND LET'S BEGIN PAINTING IN SOME LARGE TREES, SO I WILL TAP WITH THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH.

NOW, THESE TREES SHOULD BE A LITTLE DARKER THAN THE OTHER ONES. HOLD O I GOT TO REMOVE THIS MOUNTAIN.

IT WAS FUN TO PAINT. IT DIDN'T SHOW THROUGH TODAY BUT THAT'S OKAY. THAT'S OKAY.

IF WE HAD THE TEXTURE HERE IT WOULD MIX WITH THIS TREE AND I WANT IT DARKER AND I HAVE TO SCAPE IT AWAY BUT IT WAS FUN TO PAINT IT IN. LET'S DO ANOTHER ONE RIGHT HERE. WHEN YOU ARE PAINTING YOU PUT THE TREES WHEREVER YOU WANT BUT I'M USING THE CORNER OF THE BRUSH TO DROP THEM IN.

OKAY. RIGHT THERE.

GIVE YOURSELF A LITTLE LINE AND THEN WORK THEM BACK AND FORTH, VERY, VERY DARK, AND THEY'RE NOT PERFECT.

IT'S IMPORTANT THAT YOU MAKE THEM ALL DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES AND DON'T GET THE LIMB SPACING PERFECT EITHER.

THIS IS GOING TO BE A GOOD ONE RIGHT HERE.

NOW THAT MOUNTAIN IS ACTUALLY NOT THAT THICK BECAUSE IT'S FAR AWAY I DIDN'T APPLY AS MUCH TEXTURE SO WE DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE IT.

RELOAD.

I THINK THAT WAS TWO, THREE TIMES I RELOADED NOW ON THIS ONE TREE. YOU MUST RELOAD A LOT TO KEEP THEM DARK.

OKAY.

YOU SEE A LITTLE BIT OF THE TREES SHOW THROUGH.

THAT'S NICE.

THAT'S WHY WE DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT SOME OF THE BACKGROUND DETAILS BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO BE COVERED UP WHEN YOU PAINT LOOSE AND FREE IT JUST KIND OF HAPPENS.

THAT'S VERY FUN AND EXCITING.

LEAVE ONE RIGHT THERE.

NOW WE HAVE A WHOLE LITTLE FOREST OF TREES, VERY, VERY SIMPLE.

LET'S THINK ABOUT THIS SIDE TOO.

HERE'S A LITTLE GUY.

A LITTLE GUY IN THE BACKGROUND.

OKAY.

THERE'S ONE, AND ONE MORE.

ALL RIGHT.

LOAD UP THE FAN BRUSH.

ONE LAST TREE AND THEN WE WILL BE DONE WITH THE PINE TREES.

WORK THAT BRUSH BACK AND FORTH AND WILL COME BACK AND ADD SOME HIGHLIGHTS AND MAKE THEM STAND OUT, POP RIGHT OFF THE CANVAS.

RIGHT NOW THEY LOOK PRETTY FLAT.

MAYBE MAKE THAT ONE TALLER.

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING.

NOW WE'RE GOING TO ADD IN THE DARK LAND AREA SO I WILL TAP A 2" BRUSH THROUGH SOME SAP GREEN, MIDNIGHT BLACK AND PRUSSIAN BLUE, AND RIGHT IN HERE JUST START TAPPING.

BE LOOSE AND FREE WITH THIS AND SHAPE YOUR LITTLE RIVER -- MAYBE IT'S A CREEK.

I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S BIG ENOUGH TO BE CONSIDERED A RIVER BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER. WE WILL TAP IN SOME LAND AROUND IT. ALL RIGHT.

I AM BEING A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL RIGHT THERE BECAUSE I WANT IT TO BE SHAPED A CERTAIN WAY.

RIGHT HERE WE NEED SOME LAND TOO.

MAYBE I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO DO A LITTLE WATERFALL HERE, A PLACE WHERE IT FALLS OVER A COUPLE OF TINY ROCKS SO WE WILL LEAVE ROOM FOR THAT AND JUST SMASH IN A LOT OF THE GOOD DARK COLOR AND WE WILL COME BACK AND HIGHLIGHT IN JUST A SECOND. WITH THE FAN BRUSH AND A LITTLE BIT OF WHITE AND BLUE LET'S COME RIGHT HERE AND DROP IN A LITTLE WATERFALL.

THERE.

IT HITS HERE AND SPLASHES SO WE WILL PUSHUP AND THEN RUB IN SOME RIBELS OR WATER LINES ON THE WATER, SOMETHING TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT'S MOVING VERY QUICKLY.

THE NEXT THING WE WANT TO DO IS HIGHLIGHT OUR GRAPH SO I WILL TAP A 2" BRUSH THROUGH CADMIUM YELLOW AND YELLOW OCHRE AND MIDNIGHT BLACK AND SAP GREEN, AND LET'S START RIGHT HERE. TAP IN SOME VERY NICE GRASS HIGHLIGHTS.

OH LOOK AT THAT. THEY LOOK SO SOFT.

LEAVE SOME DARK IN THERE.

DON'T COVER THE WHOLE THING UP WITH HIGHLIGHT. SOMETIMES THAT'S HARD. SOMETIMES YOU GET SO EXCITED WITH THIS HIGHLIGHT YOU TOTALLY FORGET ABOUT THAT DARK.

THAT DARK -- THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. DON'T FORGET ABOUT IT.

YOU NEED IT.

YOU NEED IT SO MUCH. LET'S DO ONE LIKE THIS.

YEAH.

LOOK HOW IT ALL SLOPES DOWN TOWARD THE WATER.

THIS IS A VERY LIGHT TOUCH.

TOUCH TOO HARD AND IT WILL MIX WITH THIS DARK PAINT DOWN HERE AND IT WILL LOOK MUDDY.

IT WON'T LOOK GOOD AND IF DOESN'T COME OFF THE BRUSH WHEN YOU TOUCH LIGHTLY THEN THIN IT DOWN WITH SOME PAINT THINNER. THERE DARK AND DARK AS WE COME DOWN TOWARD THE BOTTOM, VERY DARK.

NOW LOOK AT THAT.

THE LIGHT IS HITTING IT HERE AND BECAUSE IT'S DARK OVER THERE IT LOOKS LIKE A ROUNDED HILL. THERE WE WILL JUST QUICKLY TAP IN THIS SIDE TOO.

NOW I WANT TO SHOW YOU HOW TO MAKE SOME LITTLE ROCKS SO I HAVE SOME BLACK AND DARK SIENNA ON THE KNIFE, AND WE WILL DROP IN JUST A COUPLE OF ROCKS.

KEEP THEM VERY LOOSE AND ROUGH.

THERE'S ONE.

MAYBE TH MOST IMPORTANT ROCK IS THIS ONE RIGHT THERE.

IT PUSHES THAT WATERFALL BACK INTO THE PAINTING .

THERE.

WE WILL SPEND THE MOST TIME ON THAT ONE.

THE REST OF THEM THEY'RE VERY LOOSE . NOW LET'S DROP ON SOME HIGHLIGHTS TO THESE ROCKS SO I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF DARK SIENNA AND WHITE ON THE KNIFE, AND JUST LIKE THE MOUNTAIN REALLY WE WILL DROP ON A LITTLE BIT OF HIGHLIGHT.

BE CAREFUL ON THE ONES BY THE WATERFALL BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO MESS UP THE WATERFALL -- ALTHOUGH YOU COULD FIX IT.

I JUST RATHER NOT. WITH THAT SAME COLOR LET'S JUST THROW IN A COUPLE OF TREE TRUNKS HERE AND THERE.

WE DON'T NEED TOO MUCH.

MOSTLY THE BIG ONES HERE AND YOU COULD HAVE A COUPLE OF TINY ONES.

THAT'S ENOUGH. NOW I HAVE LOADED A LITTLE BIT OF YELLOW AND GREEN ONTO A FAN BRUSH AND WE CAN BEGIN TAPPING ON SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THESE LARGE EVERGREEN TREES.

LEAVE A LOT OF THE DARK IN THE TREE. WITHOUT THAT DARK IT REALLY WILL LOOK VERY FLAT.

I DON'T WANT THAT AT ALL.

I WANT A LOT OF NICE DEPTH AND CONTRAST IN MY TREE.

LET THE TREE GET DARKER AS IT COMES DOWN HERE INTO THE SHADOWS.

RELOAD THE BRUSH AND CONTINUE.

THIS IS REALLY FUN TO BE ABLE TO GET TO POP YOUR TREES FORWARD.

MAKE THEM LOOK THREE DIMENSIONAL AND IT JUST TAKES A FEW SECONDS, VERY QUICK, VERY EASY AND IT MAKES SUCH AN IMPACT.

I REALLY LOVE BEING ABLE TO SHOW YOU THINGS LIKE THIS, THINGS THAT ARE SO EASY, VERY EFFECTIVE.

THEY LOOK GREAT.

YOU DO THIS PAINTING AND YOU HAVE ALL THESE NICE LIGHT AND DARK AREAS IN IT YOU WILL STEP BACK WHEN YOU'RE DONE AND YOU WON'T EVEN BELIEVE IT.

IT WILL BE SO EXCITING AND THAT'S GREAT.

YOU WILL SURPRISE YOURSELF WITH JUST A LITTLE BIT OF PRACTICE YOU CAN BE DOING SOME AMAZING THINGS VERY SIMPLY. ALL RIGHT.

I THINK WE HAVE A FINISHED PAINTING.

ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS SIGN IT.

I HAD A LOT OF FUN.

I HOPE YOU DID TOO. TUNE IN NEXT TIME AND WE WILL DO ANOTHER GREAT PAINTING TOGETHER AND THANKS FOR WATCHING
