Young filmmakers in Northwest Arkansas and from across the state are encouraged to join the “AETN Student Selects: Opportunities for Young Filmmakers” workshop at the Spring Creek Festival Orval Thomas Moviemakers Symposium on Friday, Oct. 24, in Springdale’s Jones Center for Families.

That afternoon, from 2:30-3:45 p.m., industry pros from AETN, the Arkansas Film Commission, Thea Foundation and recent AETN Student Selects participants will lead a workshop that explains how aspiring filmmakers can get their films made, screened and broadcasted. Zak Heald of Intercut Productions and Ben Oliver of JM Associates, just a few years out of high school themselves, have already garnered extensive work histories. Find out how they did it, and talk to some of the many people who can help other students get started through scholarships that are directly related to high school filmmaking. These scholarships are a direct line to furthering a filmmaking education and can help students make contact with key players in the Arkansas film and video industry.

As proud as we are of the “Opportunities for Young Filmmakers” workshop, it’s important to know that it's one of many! See our partners' websites to learn about everything available through the Spring Creek Festival and the Orval Thomas Moviemakers Symposium.
