Dr. Michael Greger to visit AETN studios
|Event Name||Dr. Michael Greger to visit AETN studios|
|Start Date||2nd Dec 2017 4:00pm|
Dr. Michael Greger will be live in the Arkansas Educational Television Network studios for the broadcast of his program "How Not to Die" Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m.
In "How Not to Die," Greger – an internationally recognized lecturer, physician and founder of nutritionfacts.org – examines the 15 top causes of death in America, which include heart disease, various cancers, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, high blood pressure and more. He also explains how nutritional and lifestyle interventions can sometimes trump prescription pills and other pharmaceutical and surgical approaches, freeing people to live healthier lives.
Greger believes that most doctors are good at treating acute illnesses, but bad at preventing chronic disease, and that premature deaths can be prevented through simple changes in diet and lifestyle. The 15 leading causes of death claim the lives of 1.6 million Americans annually, which he says doesn't have to be the case. By following Greger's advice, which has been backed by peer-reviewed, scientific evidence, viewers will learn which foods to eat and which lifestyle changes to make in order to live longer.
In addition to showing what to eat to help prevent the top 15 causes of death, "How Not to Die" includes Greger's Daily Dozen – a checklist of the foods people should try to consume every day.
