Posted 01 Jun 2018

The Arkansas Educational Television Network will premiere "Maigret Sets a Trap" Sunday, June 3, and "Maigret's Dead Man" Sunday, June 10, at 8 each night. The dramas follow legendary French fictional detective Jules Maigret, played by renowned actor Rowan Atkinson.

In "Maigret Sets a Trap," set in 1955 during a sweltering summer in Paris, the city is gripped with fear as four women are murdered on the streets of Monmartre in a spree of seemingly unconnected attacks. Chief Inspector Maigret is under huge public and professional pressure to find the killer before he strikes again. Maigret sets a trap, which ultimately leads to a thrilling climax. The cast includes Fiona Shaw, Aiden McCardle, Shaun Dingwall, Lucy Cohu, Leo Staar, Rufus Wright, Hugh Simon, David Dawson, Colin Mace and Rebecca Night.

In "Maigret's Dead Man," a series of vicious, murderous attacks on three wealthy farms in Picardy hit the national headlines, and the elite Brigade Criminelle at the Quay Des Orfevres is called upon to lend its expertise in tracking down the brutal gang responsible for the slaughter. However, Maigret is resolute in investigating the murder of an obscure anonymous Parisian. An investigation that ultimately solves both crimes. The cast include Ian Puleston-Davies, Aiden McCardle, Shaun Dingwall, Lucy Cohu, Leo Starr and Hugh Simon.

The formidable character of Jules Maigret first appeared in print in 1931. Georges Simenon, who wrote 75 Maigret novels, is considered one of the greatest writers of the 20th century – selling around a billion books worldwide to date. "Maigret" is produced by Ealing Studios and Maigret Productions Ltd.
