Eugene Perry

This short documentary tells the story of a man whose artistic talent lay dormant until circumstance provided the impetus for him to create hand-drawn cards to send to his mother.

Eugene Perry was on death row at Tucker Prison (Tucker Unit Arkansas Department of Correction).

The transformative power of art turned Perry's time behind bars into a period of creativity that gave him a measure of purpose and the ability to communicate with the outside world and with his inner self.

"Eugene Perry" was originally created in 1990 as part of an AETN series "The Arkansas Traveller".
