Kicking off the fun on Saturday will be a special, one-hour preview screening of the new “Masterpiece PBS” adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel “Little Women.” Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, this universal coming-of-age story explores the March family’s journey to navigate young womanhood, from sibling rivalry and first love to loss and marriage.
After them film, Historic Arkansas Museum will host an exciting themed workshop in the historic Woodruff Print Shop, and you won’t want to miss it! We got a sneak peek of the “Be Like Jo” Workshop, and we can’t wait until Saturday!
There will be several themed demonstrations from museum staff and historic interpreters to look forward to, but it may be better to show than to tell!
To get started, we had a fun demo of the process behind creating wax seals …
(All papers in our office that don’t have official purposes may or may not be on their way to being similarly adorned.)
And we also enjoyed a quick demonstration of the printing press!
Then - making romantic daydreams about beautiful handwritten letters seem nearly within our grasp - we also took in the quill pen skills of our fabulous hosts in a quick penmanship lesson.
It’s just the tip of the iceberg of the wonderful things you have to look forward to Saturday, and we can’t wait to see what you learn and create!
Admission to both the “Little Women” preview screening and the “Be Like Jo” workshop is free, but seating is limited! RSVP now to reserve your seat at: to.aetn.org/RSVPLittleWomenBeLikeJo.
