Student Selects 2011 broadcast

Local television doesn’t get much more local than this. The work of Arkansas’s next generation of filmmakers will be showcased in “Student Selects: A Young Filmmakers Showcase 2011” airing on AETN Mondays, Sept. 5 and 12, at 9 each night. “Student Selects” is an annual event highlighting the creativity and talent of the state’s kindergarten through 12th grade students. (And yes, kindergartners have submitted films—and they’re good.)
It’s quite possible you may know some of the kids involved in these productions and it’s not often you can say you know a filmmaker. You’ll be able to get a full list of credits by visiting the Student Selects website after the broadcast. There you can also learn about submisson guidelines, entry deadlines and check out the talent from previous years.
The following films will air Monday, Sept. 5, at 9 p.m.

• “The Way Home,” produced by Fayetteville High School and recipient of the THEA Foundation/AETN Young Filmmaker Scholarship for screenwriting and directing.
