Local television doesnt get much more local than this. The work of Arkansass next generation of filmmakers will be showcased in Student Selects: A Young Filmmakers Showcase 2011 airing on AETN Mondays, Sept. 5 and 12, at 9 each night. Student Selects is an annual event highlighting the creativity and talent of the states kindergarten through 12th grade students. (And yes, kindergartners have submitted filmsand theyre good.)
Its quite possible you may know some of the kids involved in these productions and its not often you can say you know a filmmaker. Youll be able to get a full list of credits by visiting the Student Selects website after the broadcast. There you can also learn about submisson guidelines, entry deadlines and check out the talent from previous years.
The following films will air Monday, Sept. 5, at 9 p.m.
• The Way Home, produced by Fayetteville High School and recipient of the THEA Foundation/AETN Young Filmmaker Scholarship for screenwriting and directing.
• Parallax, produced by Mountain Home High School and recipient of the THEA Foundation/AETN Young Filmmaker Scholarship for cinematography.
• The Perfect Playlist,produced by Har-Ber High School in Springdale and recipient of the THEA Foundation/AETN Young Filmmaker Scholarship for editing.
• Healing Hooves, produced by Fayetteville High School.
• Once a Pond of Love,produced by Springdale High School.
• Your Hand in Mine, produced by Jonesboro High School.
• Mon Coeur Sourit,produced by Fayetteville High School.
The following films will air Monday, Sept. 12, at 9 p.m.
• Quality of Opportunity, a Project VoiceScape film produced by Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site Youth Leadership Academy
• Life at Hamilton, a Project VoiceScape film produced by William J. Hamilton Learning Academy in Little Rock.
• Anti-Littering PSA, produced by Valley Springs High School.
• Tribute,produced by Springdale High School.
• When the Doors Didnt Open, produced by Cabot High School.
• A Good Day, produced by North Little Rock High School.
• A Beautiful Realization,produced by Springdale High School.
• In Your Bubble, produced by Dardanelle High School.
• Love is Eternal, produced by Springdale High School.
• A College Carol, produced by Har-Ber High School in Springdale.
If you cant watch either one of those broadcasts then you can catch both parts at once on Sunday, Oct. 2, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
