Subiaco Academy finished as runners up in the 4A conference finals of the Arkansas Governor’s Academic Competition Quiz Bowl Saturday, April 19, against Huntsville. The final score was 260 to 195. The team includes: Joshua Gage, James Kyle, Nehemiah Stephens; Tyler Carr, Josh Stewart, Matthew Sharum, Coach Alane Freerksen, Chance Kidd and Will Kluempers. The Arkansas Educational Television Network has hosted and aired the live competition since 1985. Students were challenged with difficult questions in literature, math, science, history, art, music and economics. This year, the top two teams from each of the seven conferences advanced to the State Conference Finals, resulting in seven champions. In recognition of its workplace practices promoting employee health and well-being, the Arkansas Educational Television Network received the American Psychological Association’s (APA) 2008 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 9. One of five employers from across North America to receive APA’s workplace award this year, AETN won in the government/military/educational institution category.

The Arkansas Educational Television Network reported today that tower analysis for the KETS Channel 2 antenna has been completed, and the network is awaiting approval from KASN and the Arkansas Building Authority to begin the installation of new equipment. Repairs are expected to be completed during March."Towers are designed to hold only a certain weight, including heavy ice in the winter time, and withstand a maximum amount of high winds," AETN Executive Director Allen Weatherly said. "A complete structural analysis had to be performed by a licensed tower engineering firm to be sure the tower can safely hold the additional load of the emergency analog KETS Channel 2 antenna before we could install anything on the KASN tower.
