The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) will discuss
preventive services available to Medicare beneficiaries with a panel of
experts in Be Healthy With Medicare, airing Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 7
In Arkansas, less than 10 percent of Medicare beneficiaries take advantage of the preventive screenings and services that the program provides, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Be Healthy With Medicare focuses on the availability and importance of preventive screenings for Arkansass Medicare beneficiaries.
To encourage Medicare recipients to utilize the services available, this program will detail Medicares preventive offerings and explain their importance, in addition to addressing mental health issues and the management of chronic diseases.
Expert panelists include: Sally Johnson, director of beneficiary relations with the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care; Melissa Simpson, director of the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIP) of the Arkansas Department of Insurance; Beverly Dunlap, manager for the Be Well Live Well - Arkansas Chronic Disease Self-Management Program of the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Aging and Adult Services; and Dr. Denise Compton, clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Reynolds Institute on Aging. Jancey Sheats hosts.
