Arkansas IDEAS

The Arkansas Department of Education has partnered with the Arkansas Educational Television Network to meet the professional development needs of K-12 licensed educators by offering research-based, technology-delivered professional development courses to improve academic and teaching knowledge and skills of certified personnel. This partnership brings to the teachers of Arkansas, Arkansas IDEAS.

Raising Readers: Preparing Preschoolers for Success

This course focuses on preparing preschoolers for success by developing early literacy skills. The course provides video examples, online interactives, and activities from PBS, and engages you and your colleagues in a collaborative learning experience.

Raising Readers: Ready to Read and Write with Digital Media
PreK, 15 hours, 1 CEU
This course demonstrates how preschool teachers and care givers can use digital media - specifically PBS programming and online resources - as a teaching tool to help young children develop essential early literacy and reading skills.

Raising Readers: Ready to Spark Word Power
Grades 1-3, 15 hours, 1 CEU
This new course helps elementary teachers, care-givers, and after-school providers reach and teach struggling readers. Through an engaging, collaborative experience, learners will explore different ways to teach decoding and build vocabulary, comprehension, and reading fluency skills—all designed to motivate and transform kids into confident readers and writers. Learners will explore hip, innovative songs, raps, videos, games, and activities from The Electric Company and learn how they can motivate and engage at-risk kids.
